Sound deadening for wheel wells??
Reading what posters like least about the car, tire and wheel noise seems to be mentioned the most. Some say it sounds like sand or pebbles hitting the wheel wells. Has anybody tried any of the spray on sound deadener products to see if it would help?

It Doesn't...

What can I say, JUST TAKE IT LIKE A MAN!! :p It does have loudness going on here and there:)

turn your music up loud enough and you won't have to complain about tire noise or any other noise!

I like hearing it, Esp when you drive through a slightly wet spot and hear the water splash off the lining lol. My be i'm just wierd.

You bought a sports car, not a Lexus. Enjoy the oneness with the road :)
And if it bugs you THAT bad, just turn the stereo up a dad :D |
It doesn't bother me that much, but im sure the Rhino bed lining spray would help a lot, It would be a lower sound (as in tone) so you would trade your "ting" into a "thump" sound

I used to think it wasn't so bad, and after a while I got used to it. It wasn't until I hurt my leg training for a marathon, so I had to trade cars with my bro (IS250). Now that my leg has healed and I'm driving the Z again, OMG its freakin loud! I remember seeing something in the DIY section using audio lining like dynomat or something really helped. I am now seriously considering this...if not I'll probably just get used to it again =).

I did it, definitely helped a good deal, and I installed the damn stuff upside down!

I just laid down some HushMat today along the lower firewall, beneath the seats, in the trunk and rear wheel wells (on the inside of the car), and on the middle section where the amp is. I notice a substantial difference. The engine noise is subdued unless I really gun it. Road noise is clearly lower, which was the biggest issue for me. I can still hear my fantastic Stillen exhaust but that's a noise that I don't mind in the least.
I use the bluetooth in the car quite a bit and I can definitely say that the HushMat was a worthwhile investment. It's certainly not Lexus quiet but it is very reasonable now. I only added 41 lbs of weight, which isn't going to make any substantial different to my performance, particularly with my bolt-ons. All in all, I would recommend this process. |
