Someone just weighed their 370 on this forum; plus or minus a few items, but I think the weight came out to 3320 or something like that. The weight of this car does not bother me... yet. I will wait for a test drive and then give final verdict. I want the Z to handle and be as tossable as my MS equipped RX8. If the Z wows me over my current car, then it will handle and be more tossable than the 350 either way.

I think it was either MT or C&D that rated the Nismo 350Z in the same handeling category as the normal RX8 (not even the MS suspension equipped version). If the 370 comes close to my car stock, wow... what a car. I have a feeling it may, even with its weight. I rented a Maxima for a family getaway to Sedona and was VERY surprised by its handeling, despite its 3580 weight. I kept telling myself, "Imagine a car much shorter than this, lighter, and with more power...WOW... Wait a tick.. I am thinking of the 370Z!!! WOW!!"

Can't wait for the test drive.

That is why I bought the NISMO. Way more tossable than a normal 350z. Feels like I am on rails.

The NISMO 350Z even beat the S2000 CR.

Personally, I think the Mustang is just okay. Ford is still using a small block, which is a negative, and is pushing decent power that is expected out of 8 cylinders. The funny thing that was mentioned in one of the posts in the link is that despite all of the experience Ford has with V8's, Hyundai's FIRST V8 creates more power than the new Mustang's 4.6. LOL! Wow. I'd love to see that Tau V8 in a Genesis Coupe!

Genesis > Mustang then.. hahaha

Anyway, I think I'll stick with my sexier, value sustaining, 370Z.

Oh... And to the folks that brag about the Mustang having 2 extra seats... COME ON! They are NOT back seats for grown men OR women! Maybe kids, yes, but ummm.... Why? People buy roadsters (even people who are married and have kids), because they like 2 seaters. If you are THAT concerned about having 4 seats for your family, then buy yourself a truely practical car like the FOCUS or whatever!

This "my sports car is more practical than yours" crap is just plain nonsense. Sorry... Soapbox > me sometimes.

Lateral acceleration & braking distances aren't really that indicative of overall handling.

I could throw some sticky tires on my brothers 2008 Mustang GT and a BBK and it would have some impressive magazine statistics. But the drive itself is still very dull and disconnected to the driver. Those live axles just aren't meant for anything else than drag racing.

I have to agree to a certain extent, having owned 4 mustangs in the past, they are truly more geared for the 1/4 mile. With the right suspension mods they are pretty decent track performers, but on the street, I'll take the 370z's independent rear suspension any day over the live axel. Mustangs are great, because for a small amount of money you can squeeze a lot of power out of them. There great for tight cornering, but wait till you take the first long freeway sweeper and hit some uneven road, that can be real unsettling. I must say though that one of my favorite cars was a 1992 LX 5.0, swaped out the gears in the back, Eibach springs, Koni adjustables, put on a catback and a $3500 vortech supercharger. Total investment $15K ! and it would run mid to high 12's all day long. I beat the crap out of the car, held up like a dream, was a real sleeper on the street. Comparing the 370Z to the new Mustang, I wouldn't even consider the new Mustang until Ford can come up with a decent IRS, then maybe I'll take it for a test drive. 370z FTW!

It is indicative but not conclusive. A combination of slalom and lateral acceleration is the best way to tell without true comparative lap times. Unfortunately, we don't seem to have any slalom or lap time numbers yet.

Completely agree on the fact that any mustang modifications are really good bang for the buck, especially in comparison to our VQ modifications.

Suspension wise its far behind a G/Z. But it can still be made to handle relatively well with the right modifications.

Yeah, it is indicative to a certain extent. A large part of the automotive "enthusiast" community look at 0-60 numbers, lateral G's, and braking distances and conclude this car must be as great of a performer as another car with similar statistics. That's the only part I cannot stand.
