Angry Nasty chip in my paint!

So, after investing $600 in a clear bra to cover my front bumper, the front of my hood and fender, what happens? I get nailed by who knows what in the driver's side door, and it went all the way down to the aluminum! Other than sharing my frustration with the rest of you (see pics below), I have a question. Has anyone tried 'Dr. Color Chip"? They have ads in the back of all the major car mags, and I checked out their website. I placed an order for their kit last night and should have it by Friday. But I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with their product?

You'll be very happy with Dr. Color Chip; it's a favorite among the Porsche crowd.

Can you further clarify where exactly you received the chip as I am going in today for a clear bra and I might want to add the area where you were hit, thanks?

Right underneath the driver's side mirror. Not where one would typically put a ClearBra. Glad to hear the positive on Dr. Color Chip though. Thanks!

Sorry to hear about this. I've been waiting for my first rock chip. I know it will happen sooner or later.

Preparation is everything with these kits, and you must completely remove any wax residue (I would wax the chip to prevent oxidization from occurring until you receive your kit) and prep the chip. Take rubbing alcohol or any other paint prep cleaner, and clean the area whereby you get the proper adhesion. If you do not prep the chip then you will not get the results they advertise as the paint will keep coming off as you try to blend it.

I used it when someone keyed my other Z...works like magic. but like SoCal said...prep is everything. I cleaned the hell out of the area. There are instructions on the box, so dont worry.

Sorry to hear that, it sucks. You could clear bra a whole car, but still something, somewhere is going to happen.

You may have trouble matching the color Im sorry to say. Its a tri-stage. Tri-stage means there is two different color base coats then clear. Instead of one color base then clear. Mixing touch up paint is nearly impossible for tri-stages. It will be interesting to see if they have something for you. Hope so. Good luck

Yikes! This is one of the reasons why I'm so patient to pick up my car. There's gravel everywhere! My current Z is slipping and sliding from roadways filled with gravel from the snow/ice storms. It hasn't rained, so none of this stuff is going away. To make matters worse, it gets really windy here. On both days I went to look at the Z, winds started gusting 40+ MPH, and both 370Zs on the lot were getting sandblasted.

So, what were the results of the Dr Colorchip? It looks good on their website, but as we all want to know, does it really work in 'real' life. Pics of the touchup?

Sorry for letting the ball drop on the follow-up on this one. Overall I'm quite happy with the results of Dr. Colorchip. It's not going to fill in a chip that deep perfectly (it went past the primer all the way down the the aluminum), but color-wise, it's a match and you really have to look for the spot in order to see it now. If you don't know it's there, chances are you won't notice it.

So to recap, here's what it looked like in the beginning:

And here's what it looks like now:

And keep in mind that the chip actually looks more noticeable in these pics than normal because of the flash. Under normal light, it's barely noticeable.
