I am interested to see how well it performs as compared to other aggressive automatic sports cars, but when it comes down to it the thing is still a tradition automatic and not a dual clutch auto manual. I would like to drive the new 7AT and try out the flappy paddles - but I would most certainly plan on buying the manual.

I guess it largely depends on your commute and tastes. Ask yourself why you want to stick with the Z and what it is that you like about it, undoubtedly the manual shifting is part of that experience.

The same 7 speed automatic is in both the g37 sedan and coupe along with the paddle shifters, etc... You can go to infiniti G sites to read about what people say about it or go to one of the mags (motortrend, etc...) and see what they say about it. I have the 5 speed auto with the paddle shifters in my G and love it. I've read nothing but positive things about the 7 speed, faster, slightly better fuel economy, fast shifting, etc... The manual won't be much faster than the 7 speed auto if at all...
