40th anniversay Z owners!!!!
I though our(40th) Z does not have any option to add navigation, right?
yet, I saw one that has factory nav with his 40th anniversay... I was like WTF.. I actually heard that 40th z does not come with factory navigation at the dealer when I was getting my z(ya all know, doing the paper works). Is there any way I can get factory nav in my z, after the z is already packed? And one more question, my z dont have Illuminated Kick Plates when they came out, so im trying to get them  my second question is do they have same wire lines done? I was some sites selling illuminated kick plates and saw the install manuals and saw how to put(hide) wires underneath the carpet mat. if anyone know something about this, please do my favor, tell me everything you know about these... Thanks people :) |
You can always get a aftermarket HU with Nav cause the HU isn't that great on all Z's to begin with.
I'm pretty sure all Z's are wired the same on the kick plate. I recommend pulling urs up and checking the DIY forum as some members have done the install. |
The dealer will installed the Illuminated Kick Plates pretty cheap especially if is the dealer you bought the car from. Or in the DIY section are instructions.

If you saw the 40th with nav in a pic, it might have been a european edition! It is practically impossible to install a factory nav after the fact...

I've already went through all the DIY sections before getting z :p however, i was just wondering if the illuminated plate from the factory has somewhat different wire set up then doing it by myself :) thanks for the info ;) |

If they can do install for me, then I'll go a head and ask for the install(i'm kinda afraid that i might screw up the car in some chance) Thanks for good information :p |

I am pretty certain there are no factory 40th's with Nav in the US. My dealership said the nav could be installed later, but added it would be a fortune in labor. I didn't pursue it, so it may not be possible. |
The Nissan USA site allows you to choose Nav package as an option on the 40th in the build section. The Canadian 40th editions come with Nav as a standard feature...great if you want that package to begin with. It's too bad your dealer couldn't get that in for you at the time of order.

Yah, the kickplates are easy to install, but if you prefer the dealer doing it, nothing wrong with that.
I'm not much of a Nav user so can't say how good/bad the factory one is, but we all agree that the stereo is pretty bad on our cars so should just upgrade that and while doing so, very easy to get a Nav/DVD headunit installed and rear view camera. Kenwood is well liked here, although I'm running a Pioneer (just a DVD player with rearview cam) on mine. :p |

You can thank NAFTA for that... Including NAV would have pushed the price up and when you add the tariffs and such - well - you get the idea. |
