I consider the cayman and boxer to be porsches that are "want to be a porsche but cant fully be one"

The only porsche I would get is a 911 turbo

or if I won the lottery 5 times a carrera GT which is actually the only porsche I find exciting. but it would have to be the all terrain version

I personally wouldn't get a BMW anyway since they got bad rep. if you see a accident it is either a BMW, a VW golf(mostly riced out) or a honda civic.

those 3 are the most hated cars here.

guys like porsches way more than women here.

370 is pretty popular I constantly get good comments these days. last night I had a entire bar walking out of it to take a look at it. 30+ ******* people :roflpuke2:

had to drive 4 women around a block. :roflpuke2: and there were people asking me if I could sell it to them.

Biggest WTF moment that night had to be the guy saying that he first thought it was an aston martin

I think the next generation caymans will finally be given the full amount of power they deserve, that in addition to the new DFI and Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) 7 speed transmission will make them just amazing. Because they are mid engine layout it will feel better than the standard 911 engine layout

Yeah the 997 TT is amazing, my older brother has a manual transmission one in black, it is above everything else for me, when he lets me drive it that is

It's cool you are getting mad attention there for the 370z, it is a striking car. So the 4 women, you get numbers or what?

LOL Aston Martin, people have strange ideas of cars they may have never seen up close, i could see someone who didn't really know cars confusing it for a GTR but not an Aston

djpathfinder 04-14-2010 09:53 AM

Yeah, I can see how someone not a car buff could confuse it for an Aston because of the slope of the roof and shape of the rear quarter window...seen from the side.

not yet, I had a chick with me that im trying my luck with but I those women always go to the bar.

do you guys do that thing when you are parked near and you can see your car and when people start checking out your car you freak hem out by opening and closing it. those looks of shock are awesome.

and I once was standing near my car with some friends and some guys were checking the car out and one of them was like "BAM windows gone and mine"

he was joking so I suddenly shouted out "WHAT THE **** ARE YOU DOING WITH MY CAR" I have never seen somebody run away so fast. thank god that he looked back and saw that I was laughing :bowrofl:

Many feel the Cayman/Boxster are not "real" P cars however, except for less power, they will stay with the 911 in the corners or pass it. Porsche will never put equal power in the Cayman or Boxster as it will take sales away from the 911 which, is their bread and butter. It is a shame really since the Cayman/Boxster is such a beautiful handling machine. A mid engine is far better then one in the rear. If it is not a real Porsche then I don't know what they are. Funny how we can justify buying a 370Z compared to the GTR but not a Cayman compared to the 911.....The 370Z is a bargain for the price but it is not a GTR or a Cayman...

Funny how the "old" "bad handling" Z4M is 1.5 secs faster than the 370 around top gears track:

Top Gear TV show - BBC Top Gear

Nissan 370Z lap times and specs - FastestLaps.com

Shows that it really depends on track and driver since the cars are close. I do find the motor in the 370Z disappointing - however it is a big step up from the 350Z.

Z was run on a wet track, makes a huge difference in times. It easily beat the Z4 that was run on the same day.

Hi guys,

This is my first post on here, figured i'd get right down to business.

Situation:

I sold my 2004 M3 coupe. I loved the car, it had an amazing suspension and the motor was excellent. It was very easy and pleasant to drive. Prior to it i had a 2008 STI that was also quite fun, in a different way. I still miss that boxer rumble on occasion.

Anyways, now im in need of a fun car. I want a 2 seater this time with decent cargo room. Must be a manual, and i want to stay in the $30k range. 2 cars came to mind immediately, the M coupe and the 370.

So im wondering if there are any former M owners on here that would care to compare the 2? I have never driven the M coupe.

Thanks,
AJ

I think we have pretty much laid out the story here. I was looking at a Z4M coupe, 2008 i think, and while it was very classy looking, there was still some hesitation on my part on whether or not it was a real sports car. The front of the car did look at little feminine, but overall the rest of the car was really appealing. The interior of the Z4 was really beautiful as well. I ended up buying a 40th anniversary instead and have not even looked back or thought about whether or not I purchased the right or wrong car. The Z4M is old, to feminine looking, and more money than the 370z. The 370z is far more sporty than the M, buy the 370z, if you are worried about the interior or whether it comfortable enough, get the touring or 40th for added comfort. Trust me, everytime you drive people will notice and wonder what type of car your driving. I love the 370z.

no need to be trolling. No one here said Z4 is slow and ya WET vs DRY is the best way to compare the handling of two cars. :eekdance:

I think i should have clarified. Im looking at a 2006-2008 Z4M, the one that people say feels raw and visceral. They have dropped to the $30k range and are price competitive with the Z i think. Many of them can be had with BMW's CPO warranty so a 2008 model will have warranty till 2014.

I've got the Cayman S as a remote possibility since i don't know anything about Porsche maintenance cost or insurance cost. The dealership down the street has one in the low $40ks.

Let me know if your interested. I have a 06 z4m with 43,000 miles. A great car
