Not really your just going by a 1960s definition and wont adjust for the times. No biggie, definitions are like opinions and azzholes, everyone has one. I cross shopped the Camaro SS, 2010 Mustang GT, and the Z. I ended up with the Z for a few reasons, none of them had to do with 1/4 mile times.

While the power upgrade for the Mustang is enviable, it still wouldn't make me choose one over the Z. The Z looks better, which is the #1 reason I went with it. It handles better, which was #2. And #3 was that there are Mustangs at every stoplight. While I don't need my car to be one of a kind or anything, I really would rather not pull alongside my exact car at every stoplight.

I'd prefer to spend more money on modding my Z than to have the new Mustang GT. I like the Mustang, and am glad it got more power...it needed it. But I love my Z, and am still quite happy with my choice.
