White or wait?

I think I am picking up a 370 tomorrow. It is a base, auto, sport in white. I never thought I liked the white, but the pictures look pretty good. I am driving about 2 hours to do the deal at carmax. Anyway, I thought I was going to do the same setup as above, just in black. I don't love any of the colors to be honest, but thought black would look the best, though I never wanted to maintain black! Anyway, I never had any white car, so wondering what peoples feelings are that have/had white? I think it will be along the lines of my silver 350 as far as maintaining, but wondering if I should cool my nuts and wait for black

I know these are all personal opinions, so I am not expecting any one answer, just some good opinions either way.

Thanks

White is a great color IMO, but I think will be the most popular in the 370Z. I have had white cars before and maintenance is easy, similar to silver. The only complaint I have heard from owners of cars with the pearl white Nissan color is difficulty matching the paint when painting body kits, repairs, etc. The white cars I have had have always been a solid bright white so I have no personal experience with the problem. That being said, black is also one of the hardest colors to maintain and paint. Matching the color isn't the problem with black, but black exploits any flaws in the paint.

Living in a desert where there is always dirt in the air, my white cars have been much easier to maintain than the two black ones I have had. As long as I'm in AZ, no more black for me. Too much stress.

DDM,

Good points. Good thing for me is I will keep my body stock, so shouldn't have the matching issues. Accidents, dings, another issue. Another good thing, I live at the beach in Delaware, so not too many 370's around here. More in summer, but I should be one of 7-8 total. I would love to get the stock Rays painted? (powder coated)?, whatever they do for rims either black or dark on the white. I think that would look sweet with some tint.

if it were me, i would probably wait...................... not liking white colour cars....especially since cars rust super fast over here.......

White looks beautiful in real life - you'll love it.

(and I'm a black freak!).

I hope so. I want to drive off the lot tomorrow. BTW, $32,998 with no haggling at carmax. Gotta love that!

Search carmax for 370z. They are starting to get a bunch, and man they don't mess around with prices. It is awesome. I want to buy from them because they don't pull any ****. Hopefully, I get a fair amount for my roadster!?

Will do. I don't even know how to post pictures, so I doubt I'll get them up here. I may get the base sport 6 speed depending on how I like it. My buddy has a GTR, lucky rich bastard, and I am pretty hip to the auto, though I am not thinking the 370 is going to be like the GTR transmission. But I don't know much about either. The nissan dealer told him the 370's is similar. I don't know about that?

nogoodname 02-01-2009 04:25 PM

^^ nah, not similar, the Gt-R has a dual clutch transmission

the Z has a 7 AT.....not dual clutch

to post pics, you can upload them, click "go advanced" and look at the bottom menu
or just post it from photobucket, which is better !!!!

Thanks for the info on the transmissions. I knew they couldn't be close. Also, I'll see if I am smart enough to post pics when I get the car, no matter what color I get (or tranny).

Well, I backed out. I got there and it looked way better in person than I thought it would, however, I couldn't pull the trigger. I drove it and the 6 speed, and probably liked them equally, as far as a test drive goes with a salesman next to you! Anyway, I wasn't expecting the world for my car, but for a mint 39K mile roadster, I couldn't take $13K for it and live with myself.

The biggest deal for me, is that I didn't think the difference in power was worth the $23K I was going to have to shell out. I still love the 370 and the way it looks. I also know it will out perform my 350, but again, for me, not worth it.

I still want one BAD, but we'll see. Anyway, really sweet car, sounded good and seemed to handle great, but you just can't tell when you can't really DRIVE it.

Sunsational, I just moved out of your area to DE. Kinda miss Cape May County, but not the taxes!!

Cown3d 02-02-2009 02:48 PM

try actually selling your 350

ill never trade a car in, in my life

Ieatrocks 02-02-2009 02:55 PM

If there would have been a white one at my local dealer this past weekend, it would be in my drive way right now. Unfortunatly it was silver.

White rocks. Period.

RwIron 02-11-2009 11:30 PM

Hey just wait for the color you want. DONT GET THE WHITE!!! Im getting it... I dont want every single 370z around where i live to be white. Lets not make White the most common color. I want to feel special. LOL

Are they new? I though Carmax only did used? Props to Delawhere by the way.

NorCalZman 02-13-2009 10:56 AM

I have a "white" 1988 300ZX Turbo. Both this and the new Z's color are actually "pearl" which is a pretty complex paint from what I understand. My Z is over 21 years old and the paint still looks amazing (see for yourself on my website). It IS easy to maintain. The only time you can tell my car is dirty is when it gets alot of black soot on it (I have no idea where that comes from).

As for matching, I hear its difficult, but I had the front corner touched up from a previous owner scuff and you cant even tell.

bullitt5897 02-13-2009 02:08 PM

actually there arent that many whites floating around out there... I had to have mine special ordered and its on a ship right now. But then again I got mine fully loaded with every option hehe not going to be many of those due to the markups.
