How often or do you ever?

how many of u guys with the sport pack. use the SRM? i've been reading about some small issues with it. i wont need the SRM, cuz i like my

how many of u guys with the sport pack. use the SRM? i've been reading about some small issues with it. i wont need the SRM, cuz i like my downshifts, but is it something thats cool to use or does it just get played out?

It's awesome, and it's really strange to be in a car without it. I never drive with it off. In normal traffic, it pays itself off with every single downshift. Completely worth the money. Every cent of it. I will have a tough time buying a manual without it, it's that nice.

Oh, and you can shut it off, which is also nice if you'd ever NOT want it on. I don't see why it would be off.

I've only turned it off a few times since I've had the car. A couple of times when I first got it to make sure I remembered how to heel and toe, and a few times to show people what it is actually doing if they ask about it.

i've known that you can shut it off, and u just reminded me about traffic lol i always thought it was real cool, but i thought to myself, "i dont think i need that" and "with an extra 3k i can get the wheels i want" any issues with it?

Mine was one of the first shipped into the country. I guess it needed a new Neutral Position & clutch position sensor, but that was really a minor, quick fix. (I'm one of the only people in the country with a documented problem with SRM.) The engineer said that was the problem, and I have had no problems since. I'd gladly have it repaired for something that minor for what it pays itself off for. NVmyZ, you'd love it. It's that traffic and normal driving thing where it really, really pays off for you. I probably would've shelled out 2K, just from it's function, without the wheels, brakes, and spoiler. Love it!

For the first few months of ownership, I couldn't turn SRM off. I loved it.

Now, after realizing I have much more stop-n-go traffic instead of "twisty downshift-necessary" turns, I usually keep it off.

In my type of traffic, it's only function seemed to be making people think I was revving my engine at red lights.

I usually turn it off. But when i smashing down the mountain or track i turn it on
perfect downshift every single time

Ahhh, Matt. Think like an automatic in traffic. This talkback is kind of more for NVmyZ. Let's say you're going 35, you can easily have it in 6th. When slowing down, keep the clutch engaged, let the revs come down to around 1K, hit the clutch, come to a stop, THEN shift down. No unecessary revving then. Secondly, let's say you are slowing, but then wanting to speed back up.. Be smart about the next gear you select. 35 in 6th, slowing to 15. Engine revs to like 1K, again... Clutch, now 2nd gear.... Clutch again. No fuss, no jerk, just smoothness. You don't have to even hit the gas until you want to speed back up. People won't think you're revving at them.

SRM is one of the most addicting thing about this car. I think I have turned it off once since I left the dealership last year. I wouldn't drive my Z any other way

Go play buddy! Try it out with, and without. (Just hit the button) I'm sure a dealer will let you take one out if you show up with your '08. You'd be a serious buyer. Just don't get yourself into too much debt on us, okay? Hey, and you can always save again for new wheels and sell your sport package ones. I'm sure there'd be PLENTY of takers. I'm well aware of the measures I have to take to avoid the "unnecessary revs" from SRM. But for some people, there really just isn't enough downshifting-required turns to take advantage of SRM, in my opinion.

I figured the manual says during break in not to rev it above 4k, so I'll turn in on once I hit 1200 miles...
