smurf was picked up, my thoughts after 20 miles
i picked up my blue base sport last night in the pouring rain. let me start by thanking robert for the vpp, fusz for the nissan info and others for helpful info.
due to the heavy rain, i only put about 15 miles on the vehicle. i honestly cant provide much other than the following items. 1. the base radio sucks. i love how you cant even put the sound to the rear when you adjust it. 2. i will probably get used to it, but the analog speedo is a little bit hard to read 3. i personally wish the car would have a few extra cubbies for storage. 4. the car is very similar to my old 350. my wife mentioned that they both look alike except for nicer material. 5. the syncro rev thing is interesting, but its annoying at times. 6. maybe i am not remembering correctly, but the shifter is almost like a bus. throw is super long and a little too clunky. 7. whats with the seat. the headrest rods pop out to my back if i try to lean my head back! 8. i am breaking in the motor, so no revving past 4000rpm (others probably did during testdrives). it is better than my rx8 down low, but still nowhere close to the vette. 9. no squeeking yay! 10. the blue is really smurf like, i just need to paint the top part red to make it papa smurf 11. wish there is a small pocket behind the seats 12. ride is much better on this car than the 350, quieter too below 50 13. the headlight switch sucks. i hate auto mode between off and parking lights this is all i could think of in 20 miles. i like the car so far, just little things i could think of 12 hours later. typing on cell, sorry for the bad grammar |

yeah for some reason i feel that flashing the lights on for a second in between the settings isnt good for the lights because of the sudden change.

1. There are no rear speakers.
2. That's the first time I've ever heard someone complain about that in any car. 3. You got a Z for storing stuff? What do you have that doesn't fit in the back, the glovebox, the center console, or the little compartment behind the passenger seat? 5. Turn it off. I find it a little out of place, as well, in driving situations where I don't need to do a lot of down-shift turns and whatnot, like regular city driving. 8. Hmm, 100+ hp and torque less than the vette. Did you expect them to be close? 10. Did you pick out that color yourself? Sounds like you don't like it. 11. I agree. 13. I agree. Hope you enjoy the car. Sounds like you're off to a rough start. I suspect after break-in you'll begin to really enjoy it more.

I know what you mean about the headrest.
I find the SRM annoying on the street, but once you take it to the track you will love it! Thats the only place I use it.

7. whats with the seat. the headrest rods pop out to my back if i try to lean my head back!
that's a safety feature. no seriously, it is. 8. i am breaking in the motor, so no revving past 4000rpm (others probably did during testdrives). it is better than my rx8 down low, but still nowhere close to the vette. well...yeah... 10. the blue is really smurf like, i just need to paint the top part red to make it papa smurf sorry you don't get to call it smurf right now. once you invest the same amount tony has, we can have a war over who gets to name their car 'smurf' lol get crackin'! |

I don't mean to sound like I hate the car, I just listed a few things I found obvious to me when I drove home last night. I love my wife, it doesn't mean I love everything about her.
#1 I live in CT now, not NY, just forgot to change profile #2 I am with you about the lights, HIDs don't like to be flickered on and off, the same reason why I hate the auto switch. #3 I love the feel of driving a true two seater again, feels like it's just me and the car all over again. it's not the same driving the RX-8 with the small backseats back there. #4 The blue is the best color out of the limited selection. I like it, but something about it just keeps me in reserve mode. It's like I love Rene Walker in most episodes, certain episodes she just looks weird. |

I have to admit that I am embarrassingly in love with this car but a few more things I would add to this list are:
1)Not sure if this happens to everyone but I’m ALMOST 5’6” and when I turn left I can’t see where I’m going because the left hand mirror blocks my entire view. I’m getting used to double checking before doing a left turn but I have to say that the back of my mind says a little prayer for any pedestrian that may be running across as I do so. 2)I agree with the cup holders. It has two seats, it should at least hold two Tim Horton coffees! 3)The musicbox should let you load music from your Ipod. Who buys CDs anymore?? 4)The “enter” button in the steering wheel sticks out too much. I hit it once in a while which changes my tunes. Even I don’t like to mess with my tunes! 5)I can hear ever grain of sand and pebble that the tires thrust towards the car as they role over “grit”. Makes me cringe every time! Other then that …. I am head over heels with this car. Lyne |
