Ya Buy the Stang if you want to Drag and be upside down in it even if you plan to put 5000-6000 down. the 370z holds itself in the corners and holds its resale value alot better. I believe it won a award from kbb...sports car with the best resale value in its class...and domestic cars resale drops like a rock.

Here is the difference plain and simple.
I see literally 5 2010 Mustangs everytime I get on the road(which is generally a 10 minute drive because Naples is a small city). The 350z was a very common car, as with the Mustang, but the 370 on the other hand is a little more exclusive. Mustangs are generic, plain and simple. Most people buy a Mustang because: A. It looks fast(which is debatable) B. The average person thinks Mustangs are fast simply because of American Tradition C. Most teenage kids ask their parents for a Mustang GT in high school, which also ties into B^^ Some people also pick the 370 (and all Z's) for the same reasons as well. But, I think a higher % of people who buy the Z's actually buy it because its an all around good performance car. I could have gotten more power and a faster car if I wanted to, but I wanted more for my money. Who cares if your "sports coupe" is fast in a straight line, but handles like an SUV in the twistys. Thats like having a hot wife that you can only look at, but not touch. The Z is an agile wide receiver, while the Mustang is a 450lb (arguably 500lb) linebacker. That being said. The new 5.0 GT is very, very impressive. It looks the same as the 2010 GT (everyone who bought that got screwed), and it does have some eye popping numbers. The Brembo brake package is really great, as well with an aluminum block(finally, welcome to 2010 Ford). But the only Mustang that I would ever look at is the 2013 model, which is rumored to actually have an independent rear axle. This will actually make the Stang handle decently. So to the OP here is the verdict: Mustang for street(cocktail party talk - probably more like frat party talk) Z for all around performance (Back/side street weapon - After Stillen S/C it will be faster than Stang anyways.)

We're talking Magazine numbers. The average driver will not run a 12.8.

Please don't overlook the fact that the test vehicle had the 3.73 gear option, which helps with low end power delivery which as we all know helps a lot in the quarter mile. Without that option I don't think this test car would have run lower than 13 seconds.

Someone here already said it, there will ALWAYS be a more powerful/faster car. It took me three cars to realize that before I decided on a car I just truly love; the history of it, the exterior styling, the interior styling, the potential of the aftermarket, the presence of it, and the driving characteristics of it. That car is the 370Z. I love it and I think I am good!
That said, the new Stang is stunning! Love the return of the 302!!!! I used to be a Stang man and ALWAYS still pull for them. I cannot wait to see this thing on the race tracks and their owners doing teenage like burnouts!! *And this new Stang (stock) still will not be faster than my old 02 Stang with the Kenne Bell Supercharger putting down 562 HP and 602 Pound feet on the dyno!! My old man has that beast now.... |

Very well said bro, case closed if you ask me, but I'll add 1 thing. Up intill now failure*, oh I mean ford has been selling customers a sorry excuse for a V8 for years, and that goes for most special edition mustangs as well aka. Roush. To the OP, Argue if you want, but the only ford I'd ever consider buying would be 1 with a shelby name on it like the new gt350. Other then that just go with the 370Z, you'll never regret it. It's a great platform to start modding, and IMO it just might be the ultimate car in every catagory.

Mustangs are nausiatingly, overbearingly common. I wouldn't use the word exclusive for the 370z just because its a generational changeover. If the silvia came back from its 12 year death? That would have exclusivity to it. The camaro should be an exclusive car but in 11 months GM has been able to sell enough that I see 3 or 4 a day in dfw. Horrible!!! I was in a mustang @ the dallas auto show and honestly. There isn't one thing about the interior of a mustang I like. Even with the 2010 refresh its outdated. That glass roof... its like puttin' a diamond ring on a fat-ugly chic. Nice ring but she still fat and ugly.
One other thing... don't get too impressed with that .94g. Its not gonna happen in real world driving. The mustang will only see those numbers on a track or a brand new near perfect highway. On the street, the live axle loses traction everywhere. I love how car mags decieve people to keep outdated musclecar tech vibrant and selling. At least in the Z you know its lateral acceleration was designed also for street use, unlike the mustang. So in summary, a street race against the stang? The stang will lose due to its cheap (track bias) live axle. If u r stuck on v8 power? Get a used vette. all that needs is a upgraded suspension set up for better cornering and you are straight with a corvette. Muscle cars are the #1 sports cars because of false patriotic pride, not better overal performance. If u plan on driving in a str8 line for the rest of your life? Then buy a mustang. In the end though. The choice is yours. |

the 370z would be a samurai sword, the Mustang would be a very large cleaver. Sure it's fast in a straight line, but unless you're looking to dominate the expressway I don't think it's really great for real world driving experiences. I love the torque of Mustangs, but it's a 1 dimensional car, lots of power and torque, inferior handling, and compared to the Z inferior exterior and interior build quality. I wouldn't give my Z up for a Mustang and I'm someone whose first 2 cars were both Stangs.
