I am sick oh hearing about the 2011 Mustang. You are running just as fast with some mods. End of story.

Yes but if they do the same mods then you are back to the original gap. When you compare one car to another you have to do so evenly, either stock for stock or mod for mod. If I put 10k into my car then it better be faster than the stang, but if he does the same 10k then he is back to being faster. Gotta compare apples to apples, or light sabres to light sabres if in the urinal.

if it's about apples to apples, why compare the v8 5 litre mustang to a v6 3.7l z?the more appropriate comparison will be to the v6 mustang which is still slower.

Price is the great equalizer.

but you sacrifice a lot in the mustang to get a v8 at that price. you get less build quality, crappy interior, a dull exterior look, a heavy body, somewhat unrefined suspension, outdated design. obviously ford had to cut a lot of corners to offer the v8 mustang at that price. basically you get an above average engine and a below average everything else. if someone likes that compromise, good for them. i personally won't be scrambling to a ford dealer anytime soon. perhaps the next gen mustang if it comes with irs, track tuned suspension, smaller body, less weight and preferably an upgraded interior it might be an option. (though in all likelihood i would have enough money by then to get a gt-r)

Have you not read any of the specs of the new Mustang?
~Weights 3600lbs (smaller body could lessen this but Ford is sticking with this style for now)
~It comes standard with the once track package which is the sport suspension setup
~Interior is an upgrade from the previous generation, look at it like the 350 to 370. It was an upgrade but there are still faults in the 370 interior, maybe less than the Mustang but the materials used are almost no different than any 30-40k car now. I think you people are confusing style choices with material choices which are two separate topics.
~They stiffened the frame up, not sure where the picture is but they added what is equal to the Nismo body damper upgrades to the base V8 Mustang to stiffen it all around.

Most of your arguments seem to be style issues which are very valid (I am not 100% on the current Mustang style), but all your arguments of performance, material, body, etc. are all wrong which is because you are blinded by your hate just the Mustang in general. Spend a few minutes and actually read the reviews and specs and you will see the upgrades.

Another thing for modders to take into account is engine potential. The 5 liter can generally be pushed a lot further w/o having to go to a built block (at least this was true with the 4.6l).

Through general reading, I have read that the stock 5.0 will be less boost friendly than the outgoing 4.6. The compression ratio is the obvious issue. I'm sure Ford will have a dealer installed Whipple supercharger available for it. That should give the public a general idea of what Ford considers safe for those engines.

If FI is not your bag, I feel these engines would respond to standard bolt ons very well. Only time will tell.

Then we compare the 2010 Mustang to the 2010 370z, and the Z is still faster. :happydance:

faster is nice but for me the real decision is the looks inside and out. The stang by design is bland to me inside and out. I like the new high tech looking insides and the exterior of the Z is way cool. They should have changed the body style and interioe of the 2011 stang to make it more modern. Retro interiors are out. If Nissan ever makes a V8 Z then it will have tons of power but they probably wont cuz it would enter the GTRs area.
