Default 370Z Reliability

How you guys, new here.

Hoping you guys could help me out a bit, i don't own a Z, never had but i'm looking into purchasing one sometime soon, but just worried on how reliable these cars really are, i have heard some scary stories on 350Z in the past, ie. trannies blowing, electrical problems ect.

How are things so far on the New Z?
How reliable were the past Zs?

Also how about the sports package? Touring package? is is worth the extra cash?
again new here any help would be appreciated.

I currently own a 04 S2000 very happy with it (fun, fast, and extremely reliable) just looking at other (faster?) possibilities...
thanks in advance

Hi there. Welcome to the forum! I've just owned mine for a week. The sport package (only comes as an option on the Touring model) is worth it for sure. This is my 4th Nissan/Infiniti vehicle. Never had any reliability issues with my other cars. Happy shopping!

I have an 09' Manual transmission, Touring with sports package (no nav)
Ill be hitting 9k miles soon. Not really a long term durability test so to speak, but thus far the only problem I've had is the somewhat common hatch issue.. TSB for springs to be replaced etc.. Nothing major at all

>11k miles, including some track time. Runs and runs and runs.

No issues other than the Hatch Spring TSB mentioned earlier, and small minor things like a weird pop in my seat (which someone has figured out how to fix) and a slight ECU whine (sounds like a toned down GM fuel pump). Some people do not have this issue and I believe it's completely gone in '10 models.

Since I have and will be tracking my car I also put an oil cooler on and I've had no issues relating to it.

I've owned 2 other Nissans in the past and between a couple of my other close family members we're now at a total of at least 6. Only repairs I can recall are an alternator (97 240sx), clutch (97 240sx), and clutch slave cylinder (92 240sx). I don't remember any of the 300zx's my relatives had having any problems.

if you ask anyone on this forum about reliability or dependability issues, no one will offer counter-argument: simply, the best bang for the buck........

this is my 3rd Z.......... i have had issues with previous ones....., but just with anything in this world, nothing is perfect........ some Z will have issues and some not..... but nothing major.......

it also depends on how the owner maintains it..........

one other feedback/advice is noise level......... but if you are driving s2k, then that should not be a problem......

i also had a s2k previously and the only thing i did not like about the car was the noise level, which i eventually got accustomed to....

i think most of us bought 370z because we LOVE Z for the most part....

hope you make the transition soon enough and ENJOY *^^*

Oops...I forget you have a lot more build options in the US than in Canada.

I've had my Z for 15 months, it has 11k miles. Aside from a rattle from the rear hatch and a little random rust underneath my car has been bullet proof.

I've owned 5 Z's. They have all been very reliable cars.

The last two I owned (05 350Z and 09 370Z) have been my daily drivers for 5+ years without a single issue except the ECU whine, which does not affect the 2010 models and has a fix I believe for the 09's. It also does not affect reliability except that it will have to go into the dealership shop to be fixed.

The 300ZXTT I have owned for 14+ years has had barely any issues at all.

Even the 82 280ZX and 86 300ZX I owned were basically issue free. The 82 was starting to get some rust though.

Overall very well built reliable cars.

the rear hatch needed 2 clicks before it would open so i did the 4 pennies trick and never had a problem since.

I had a 350Z in past and I've had a 370Z for over a year now. I've had a lot of cars but these two Zs were the most reliable for me this far. I think the key is the maintenance with any vehicle.

Welcome.... Just like you, I did my research! I joined the forum awhile back not owning a Z. After reading articles and articles on here, I decided to purchase one.. I was going to purchase a coupe but decided to get a Black Cherry roadster at the last minute! I didn't need the Sport package so I got the basic. Why spend all that money when you can pick and choose what you want.

You can't go wrong with the Z, best bang for your buck!!!! The only 3 brands I would ever buy, Nissan, Toyota and Honda...

Where in Canada? If I may correct you, the touring is available without sport.

Awesome guys keep the comments coming, thanks again.
I have another question, now that some talk about maintenance, how expensive/difficult this could be? by looking under the hood does not seem like any average Joe can get in there...
