(1) The motor vehicle is equipped with a bracket or other means of

(B) The person understands that California law requires a license

(b) A manufacturer or distributor may not sell or distribute in

I can't find any thing about license plate holes.
OP, does your state have a vehicle code like this? If it does, then it looks like the dealer not only followed the law but also the proper plate frame installation instructions from Nissan. I guess Nissan figures that once the front plate is installed, it covers the two bumper holes and will go unnoticed. Well, I guess, but that is just a poor plate frame design, Nissan!

I called my dealer rep today , on delivery of my Z ,he said the front plate bracket is in the trunk,he said he planned on leaving it there, the guy is smart enough to know there are after market brackets, even though front plates are required in BC.He also said they wouldn't be sticking a Dealership sticker on the car,the rear plate bracket has the dealerships name on it.

I've been running my Titan for 5 years in BC without a plate up front, fortunately I live near the Alberta boarder an they don't require front plates,so the local cops see so many vehicles without a front plate.

Some how I think the new 40t th Z in town will turn a few heads, including the local law enforcement. If I'm lucky I ll get a few weeks without a front plate, maybe another after they catch on an I tell them I have an after market one coming.

YES, they were already drill. I didn't find out until I removed the front license plate to removed the stupid dealer frame.

And the dilema is that if I move back to Florida I'm stuck with a front license plate holder when the states doesn't requires a plate on the front.

I didn't now about the freaking holes!!! I have bought a lot of cars in states with front license plate and would not suspect that to mount a front license plate holder they would drill 1" holes on the bumper.

I received good news from the dealer Service Manager today where I purchased my car. Nissan Co. called them and authorized them to get a new bumper for my car because of the holes they drill on.

It took me since November 09 complaining and contactinf everyone I could, but it was worth it. I will keep you guys posted. I know the dealer is going to give me a pos Altima to drive while the car is in the body shop.

Thanks for the support of some of you guys!

Great news about the bumper! My state requires that you have a front license plate as well, so the day I went to pickup the car I told the dealer I wouldn't purchase it if they drilled into the bumper. They just handed me the bracket and front plate =)

Congratz! This sounds like the first time that Nissan has really gone the extra mile to satisfy their customers... too bad we can't get them to address some other minor concerns.

Nissan did not go the extra mile, believe me! I did go the extra mile by contacting everyone that I could over a period of over 3 months including Nissan North America and Nissan Co. of Southeast.

They will not do anything for you unless you complain, complain and complain about the problem you are having.

Again, if you have any issues/concerns contact them using the email address that I provided or the Discussion Board in Facebook (Nissan North America).

I bought my car brand new in Ohio (which requires a front plate) and my front plate bracket was in the trunk when I took delivery. There weren't any holes drilled, either. However, since the holes are in the black part of the bumper, couldn't you just plug them with black plugs or something? They really shouldn't be that noticeable.

That being said, I'm not planning to put the front plate on my Z. I'll take the ticket, thank you very much.

Take a look at the picture (comment #17) that on this thread. The holes are around 1" in diameter on the bumper, not the black part.

If the holes were in the black part I wouldn't go thru all this when they can be plugged.

Whoops, missed that. You're right, that's completely insane. I'd have gone straight into orbit.

I'm in California and the dealer never mentioned anything about the front plate mount. I found the hardware in the trunk in a plastic bag. I've opted not to mount it until a cop tells me too. In the meantime I ordered the Stillen mount because I am not going to drill holes in the front of my brand new car.
