Its NOT the software that is protected under the copyright. It is the intellectual content that the software is just presenting to the screen.
Nothing would prevent a competitor service place to spend millions to reverse engineer a 370Z for the purpose of blueprinting everything and writing the repair content that would then be under their own copyright. But as you can see that just wouln't be cost-effective now would it?
