I'd have to double check. There are definitely power lines because there is a neighborhood to the one side. I just don't know their location in relation to where it all started. I'll get pictures of the where it happened too for you guys. I gotta run back to the dealer anyway as soon as I get home and can grab my truck.

I'm curious, is your car a sport package option?

He already said it is a sport package.
I would take some pictures of the accident scene, especially if your tire marks are still visable. There will always be doubters but I believe you. I had the brake pedal go to the floor and I couldn't stop in my almost new Armada. Luckily I was only going about 15mph at the time and I swerved and didn't hit the car in front of me. I had a hell of a time getting the dealer to believe my story since the brakes were working fine when I brought it in. |

interesting. an owner of a MT sports car has something flukey happen with drive by wire, he regains control of the car. the driver of a "safe family sedan" (toyota/lexus) has a similar throttle problem and .... they get killed.
glad your ok... and i'd be curious to know what they say caused this. |

Any chance it was the "magnetic" black paint colour??? Possible EMI issue here....

I seriously doubt fields from a power line are strong enough to do anything. They fall off as the square of the distance. In addition, there's more EMF from the ignition system of the car than anything else. The ECU is shielded from this. (H3ll, the car is basically a Faraday cage anyway - the insides are surrounded by the metal body.
In any case - a very close call. I'm glad you were not injured. The fact that this particular ECU was a bit flaky leads me to believe that the "re-set" did not completely solve the problem - maybe a hardware failure? I hope things get sorted quickly for you. UPDATED! Link to damages. Rather than spam with 10 pictures. Still waiting on reports from dealer, etc. I'll keep updated. |
