i know a lot of normal folks that like to read magazines and watch vids and pretend to be a car guy without not even knowning how to do simple fluid changes, brake pad change, etc....better yet, dont even know how to drive MT correctly!! lol
lap times and such are good way to see wat a car can do in that particular test environment, but that's all that it is. |

The thing is the tires make a huge difference, and also given the price difference it would be fair to mod the Z for half the price difference and then run the tests...

I dunno why that is, I think the 6MT is great, I've installed a 440 gram (sweetknobs.com) stainless steel shift knob and it is smooth as hell. Gonna install the RJM Performance adjustable clutch pedal after the MAF tubes today and I'm sure it is gonna feel ridiculously good (as others have stated). So maybe people don't think 70 bux for a great shift-knob is worth it to make the shifting experience much better.

This forum is full of posers who don't know a connecting rod from a push rod but they sure as hell can be authorities on almost every topic presented. The only advice here is don't believe what you read in a forum and only believe half of what you see if they show pics.

If tested in similar conditions it is probably a better indicator than the Nuremberg (A manufacturer favourite) at all around car performance.

Your right, the constant 5.0 talk has slowed down and the MT as you said is the new hot topic LOL. Didn't Lotus design the TopGear track? Or does Lotus tune their cars on it? Its one of those.

[QUOTE=N0SL3N;1824133]The Top Gear Test Track was designed by lotus to test the all around performance of a car. The track results require a mixture of handling, braking and acceleration which is supposed to balance the results of high power cars (Viper, Corvette) with light, good handling cars (Lotus, Ariel).
If tested in similar conditions it is probably a better indicator than the Nuremberg (A manufacturer favourite) at all around car performance.[/QUO There test track is exactly as I thought is was , simply and old flat air base with some barriers and orange traffic cones, it may be good for comparison times, but not much more. Its simply not designed as a road or track course, from the beginning , its really nothing more than a large flat parking lot converted to race a car around. Quote from Wiki - The track is on a former Royal Canadian Air Force airbase constructed during the Second World War and later used by British Aerospace as a manufacturing and test facility. The track's main route, marked by painted lines and simple structures such as stacks of tyres, was designed by test drivers from Lotus. Last edited by gsxr750; 07-17-2012 at 02:22 PM. |
