It's true, and I believe Nissan is expanding it to the electronics industry for items like mobile phones. Also, at least in Europe, the 40th Anniversary edition comes with it:

Quote:

The 370Z Black Edition marks the 40th anniversary in style. Available from April as a coupé only, and in a limited edition run of just 370 units in Europe, it comes in two distinctive metallic shades: black and quartz. Both paints use Nissan's pioneering Scratch Shield technology, 'healing' the finish in the case of stone chip damage.

I think this came out on the Infiniti hatch first, 2 years ago? It's decent I heard, just need the sun to activate it. My dealer here in Hk said the 09 Zs have this.

Here's an older thread. Please note this thread was created BEFORE the official release of 370Z.

Don't hold your breath, guys. Infiniti has used scratch shield paint from 2008-09 on certain models. But they decided to withdraw use of scratch shield paint for 2010 and go back to the crosslinked clear coat paint again. No reason given for pulling that technology, but I wouldn't expect to see it on a 370Z.

Not again with old articles....LOL

The Z doesn't have the self healing paint.
The 40th might have it only.

Dude u r waaaaay behind. This paint was invented in 05 but was 1st used on the 08 G37. Its on my 09 G37 but 2010 won't get it due to cost... basically nissan can't afford to produce it anymore inspite of a 4k mark up on the G for 2010. Nissan models never got the paint. Only infiniti. As it stands it looks like neither will get this paint for a while.

PhatZ 03-23-2010 12:43 AM

the 09 G37 has them. they took it out on the 2010 cuss no one give a crap.

Zigen5 03-23-2010 02:31 AM

Yes, old old article... The 370z does not have it, and I know for a fact the GT-R does have it...

Icib 03-23-2010 05:39 AM

The european 370z has this. Atleast mine has it.

If I am not mistaken it comes in a package together with the navi and the 19" rays. Might come on all of them I am not really sure.

Chris`I 03-23-2010 05:43 AM

In the UK AFAIK all metailic and pearl 370z's have it, not just the 40th/Black Edition.

^ Lucky. But with the prices you pay I'd expect a few extras.
