400z
So Ive been reading a few articles that Nissan will be doing the 400Z and that it will probably be a V8 and should be out at the end of the year or early 2011. Now Im not sure if its true about the time frame but Im pretty sure the 400Z is coming as its the next line to keep up with the new stang and other cars coming out with more power. A V8 would be nice for the next Z.
The one thing I dont like is the body if they go with the pic in the link. http://www.topspeed.com/cars/nissan/...ure112413.html |
Most likely Nissan will not put out a new Z til 2014 or 2013 as a 2014 model.
|
thats pic not so good looking but a v8 ? i thought they could do a turbo'd Z first
|
I would hope by 2012 to gain the edge back in power after the stang gets it next year. I saw VW and Audi with some cool looking 2 seaters too by 2012.
|
thats an old article before the 370Z came out, they thought it was going to go straight from 350 to 400Z.

That article is from 2006, speculating about the 2009 Z. Pic looks just like a G35 Coupe :roflpuke2:
|
I hope not cuz as much as I would love a V8 Z I wouldnt get it if it looks like the G. How long was the 350 in production before the 370 came out?
|
nissan doesnt even have a engine ready for something like that.. I dont see it happening. Sales are already bad enough.. I dont see any money to R&D a whole new engine. they will stick to the tried the true VQ maybe stroke it a lil more and call it a 380Z maybe DI will show up.. the real point though is who knows.
No one. |

So when are the spy shots being posted? |
yea definately dont like the pic and Im hoping if they do come out with it it wont look like a G but a V8 would be great. Do we have anyone in the forum that is connected to Nissan that might be able to find out more? Ill be ready to trade in my Z by 2012.

:shakes head: There's no V8, it's all just rumors.
|
would they be able to get a 4.0 with a V6?
|
Seriously.:shakes head:

3.8 is pushing the limit of that block.
|
So if they are a little leary of a V8 cuz of gas possibly, for them to stay with a V6 what would be the new number for the next generation? ZX maybe.
I see they are using 4.0 V6s now but looks mostly on SUV and trucks. |
I seriously doubt a V8 is coming..... the G sedan is already getting a 2.5L V6 now.....and the coupe might get it later.

It's only coming in as in optional engine for the G's....
|
Car companies have to make more fuel effient cars to keep up with the new standards. Smaller engines that produce more power with DI and turbos are the future. I don't see Nissan introducing a V8 to a car that traditionally had a V6.
|
and what about the gt-r? does anyone really believe nissan will give the z a v8 engine while their flagship supercar is only a v6?
|
Just so people don't panic here, Infiniti's new M car will feature a V8 that produces above 400+ horsepower.

The M was already offering a V8. Its just not going to be added to the Z

and a new model usually last for about 4-5 years |
Well i hopes the new "Z" will not be a 4000cc monster, road tax too high...

I would see the GT-R going 4.0 TT and the Z getting a 3.8 or 3.9 with DI and all those goodies. I am sure Nissan could easily push out a 400hp (flywheel) 3.9 V6 engine after the 370z.
What will Nissan really do? Who knows, they might jump ship and do what BMW did and jump to a V8, but I almost feel like if they do they will also do what BMW did. They bloated out the M3, and while it still is quick, faster, etc. it is not the same car it once was. |
my prediction, with the new looming fuel economy standards is that the next Z will be a 240Z. 2.4 direct injection turbo, 300 hp. Thats just a guess, but I can see it happening.

I see either this, or a smaller V6 combined with electric motors, to get the fuel economy there and retain performance. |
