370z vs...... THE Snow
Oh god it was a complete disaster.
First I couldn't get the door open because the automatic window rolldown didn't work because the windows were frozen shut. Then after a minute of struggling getting out of my parking spot, I got stuck completely at my apartment's parking entrance. Started one dude helping me then grew to >>7<< people pushing my car out of the ice. Note this was WITH a ton of weight in my trunk. Those damn summer tires sure didn't help Now my Z's just parked in some random spot and now I'm waiting for my friend to pick my *** up. |

Wow that sounds miserable. We just got hit with a storm and cars were all over the place, but I didn't see any Z's/G's bold enough to try to drive in this weather.
I wonder if a set of blizzak's will do much good?

The only thing out of the ordinary I saw out today was an E46 M3 on snow tires. Luckily my beater car made it through the ice and snow just fine. I think the guy above me probably had it much worse in Cincinnati! I hear you guys are on level 3 emergency. (for non-locals: meaning that police can ticket you for being out on the roads without a certain excuse)

I haven't seen any snow tires that really fit the 19x10 inch rims. I have an alternate snow vehicle but plan to buy set of all season tires (eg Michelin Pilot A/S) so that I can at least have some decent cold weather performance.
My 370 isn't due to arrive until mid Feb. I'll try to baby it this winter on existing tires and save some money for tire/wheel purchase this fall. |

I think awhile back I saw those new M5's trying to get out of a parking lot with 6 inches of snow. |

I'm debating over this issue as we speak. I just moved to Jersey and bought a $950 crapcar because I'd like to buy a new one in a few weeks (the usual suspects Camaro, 370z, GenCoupe etc) and what keeps me from actually going to a Nissan dealer is the winter issue. I mean, I'd of course get a set of winter/all season tires, but is that enough for a 370?
I've been driving a Mustang rental over the last few weeks and didn't really have any problems driving it in the snow. Is that in any way comparable to a 370? |
