Can you "catch" the scratch with your finger nail?
If your fingernail does catch it, its deep....odds are it won't be completely fixable and it will need a rotary buffer, and aggressive buffing compound (maybe even wet sanding) which should be left to a professional detailer/body shop. You can make it FAR worse! Post up some pics. Last edited by dropped1; 03-19-2010 at 03:08 AM. |

Just scratch your entire car all over, it will look like a custom paint job and before you know it ricers everywhere will be copying you then we will be making fun of them on this very forum...ahh the circle of life

I was jumping my VW Bug with my Z, but had my Z on the wrong side (in my garage), so the jumper cables had to be draped across my driver side fender and across the engine to the battery.
After removing the cables, I realized my jumper cables got all kinds of dirty and grime on the Z, and it looked, intially, like it had scratched it up. I couldn't believe I was so careless! Luckily, some detailing spray and a rag cleaned everything right up.

I know what you mean man! With my old truck I was washing it one afternoon and dropped the nozzle in the middle of the hood from like 2 feet in the air. No dent no scratch, don't know how I escaped it, but for like 30 seconds I just closed my eyes and wanted to die. 3 months later a tree fell on it, talk about a sick feeling as you cut branches away from your baby so you can move it. Same thing again, no strach no dent. JUst leaves in places I didn't know exsisted. If Ford did one thing right with that truck, it was the paint job.

I think I top it all here.
I was towing my buddy's car with my truck, when it fell off the dolly, gently turned right and rolled off into a nice open grassy area (how perfect right?)....and then suddenly came back left and bounced off my own truck. Luckily, it was quite slow at that time (it was stuck in gear, shifter cable broke) and barely did any damage other than a dent to the rear right side of my bed. But it was a forehead slapper when we realized we had completely forgotten the security chain.
