Would you buy a salvage 2010 Z?

2010 w/sport pckg

No accident, was reported as a salvage as the roof was damaged on delivery and was categorized salvage as it was brand new car.

I am being told that if a car is damaged before registering it is stated salvage.

On the flip side I saw pics of the damage its a small dent on the roof.

I can get it for 23.5K...whats your thoughts?

The roof has been repaired and the car has 124 miles on it...I have seen before and after pics.

I plan to keep the car for a long long time ...I would say 7-10 years as my toy and really aint worried about resale.

Let me know your thoughts...I know 2010 with Sport package go for something like 32K.

I wouldn't. Too many possible problems you don't know about.

I wouldn't go with it eaither.

Does "salvage" mean there is no longer dealer warranty of the drivetrain?

Im not sure...does salvage mean there is no warranty ?

hmm that sounds like a good price but a salvage vehicle greatly depreciates the value..also, insurance companies may not want to provide you full coverage comp/coll because of the salvage title..id probly think twice about this purchase.

It won't be worth what you pay for it..... unless you are going to drive it until it dies.

Trade Value = $0.00

TipsZ 03-17-2010 03:37 PM

Right. I do not believe there is a warranty once it is classified as "salvage". Just like Lou said, they will not give you anything towards it as a trade in. 23k still seems to be a bit high for a salvage vehicle. Then again, you might be able to make that back and some if you decide to part out the entire vehicle.

Mannysrt8 03-17-2010 03:54 PM

But do you think someone would really give a rats @ss in 10 years?

It will probably be worth 7-10k in 10 years...plus i would be keeping it for a long time.

I called Nissan Canada..NO WARRANTY on salvage.

Do you think if i can get it for 20K its worth it?

Mannysrt8 03-17-2010 03:56 PM

Also many of these done up 350z's are selling in the low 20's no warranty as most of them have been modified to pieces or and the warranty has expired.

At the end of the day the risk is there but what can seriously go wrong with a new car...I know there is lemons out there but as long as I keep my service upto date..i think i should be okay.

wishihadnav 03-17-2010 04:01 PM

^^are you planning on financing it?..if so, the banks may not lend money on a salvage vehicle..and like i said earlier, you will probly find it difficult to insure the vehicle with full coverage.

wishihadnav 03-17-2010 04:02 PM

just dont buy it man..lol.

g96818 03-17-2010 04:06 PM

i would not, slavage means frame/structure damage, the roof is part of it and frame/structure is usually not repaired due to risks of it failing afterwards

Montez 03-17-2010 04:08 PM

Would not do it, just think if something happens with the powertrain or tranny within the "warranty" period. You would be outta tons of money, let alone electrical stuff that could and does happen from time to time. You would be better off trying to find a used 09.

When shopping for my 1977 280z I passed up on several salvage titled cars simply due to the salave. We are talking cars that are over 20years old here. So yes, in ten years people will still care about a salvage title.

Honestly, like others stated I wouldn't do it. Now if you had the tools and time as well as could get the car for cheaper thank 23k, I would then buy and part out. By parting it out you could easily make a good profit which you could then use to by a non-salved 370z.
