in all seriousness though, I agree with what most have said here. You are going to find problems anywhere you go, and the communication between you and nissan goes both ways. Maybe there was something you could have done better, maybe there was something they could have done better. regarding dealerships, I drove 180 miles 1 way to a nissan dealer to buy my Z. I would do it again in a heartbeat for any nissan since it was the best experience I have had buying a car. There is a nissan dealership 3 miles from my house that I wouldn't touch with a 100 ft pole. Same can be said for any make.

you wanted them to incur the expense of a rental for however long it took to find a fix while the car was completely operable, just had a little noise coming from the ecu/ and you think you should be bitter? Have some patience man, it's the first year of a car coming out and there is going to be minor issues that require ironing out and they won't be fixed on day 1...

Signed out and saw this response and I just had to answer it.

You don't own a business do you? Because that is not how business works. If I sold you something that had an obvious problem and I could not fix that problem it is my duty to either refund you or replace it. I can't just tell you 'ohh well, when I get to a fix I'll let you know'. So you think it was ok that Nissan made me incur that cost because the product they sold was defective? I surely hope you do not agree.

By your comment of 'it's just a noise coming from the ECU' tells me you do not have this problem and have no idea what I am talking about. So instead of listening to what I say and trying to understand you are instantly defensive for Nissan. It was not a simple noise, it was brain splitting. Listen to others who have had this problem, I am not the only one saying it. So here I am actually having the experience and having to deal with it for 9 months and here you are who have never had the problem trying to tell me it's just something minor. Do you not see something wrong with that? Do you honestly think I would rent a car to drive because of some simple noise?

To understand why there is not widespread displeasure with Nissan or the 370Z:

Most of us don't have the noise issue - my guess is that Nissan knows it's a real problem and is working to fix it. They just don't have a fix yet and probably don't want a public relations issue like Toyota is having right now, so they just bought yours back (which is what they should do).

Huh? They have a fix for it - the TSB has even been posted on this site. I went to a local dealer a few weeks ago and they ordered the replacement springs and installed them.

Because those aren't examples of Nissan mistreating you, although you were definitely not treated right. And your wife should have told that dealership to shove it where the sun don't shine. But the examples you gave were of independently owned Nissan dealerships being stupid - not Nissan Corporation. And do you really think that there are no Ford (or Dodge, or Chevy, or ...) dealerships that mistreat their customers? C'mon, be realistic...

Edit: Just wanted to add that the dealership that I bought my 370Z from was absolutely great! They dealt with me fairly, and followed through on everything they agreed to. Clearly, all dealerships are not created equal - that's why you should consider buying another Nissan in the future.

In any event, I'm glad that in the end it's been worked out to your satisfaction - best wishes with your next ride!

What they should have done is swap out the car when I brought it to their attention just days after I bought the car. Not 9 months later.

Last time I took my car is was around December/January and at that time they had no fix and wouldn't fix it. Once I no longer had to take my car in and was told the case was filed I stopped trying.

These are my local dealerships, these are the people I would have to deal with to not only purchase next vehicle but throughout the ownership. Now why would I want to volunteer to spend more time with these people?

And yes this does fall on corporate. I spoke to corporate many times about trying to help me out by either swapping the car or just giving me a rental until they fixed the issue. They wouldn't do either and kept telling I had to go through my dealer that wanted nothing to do with me.

From what I've heard there's 2 different revisions of the ECU and the newer one does not have the noise. I'm sure it's around here somewhere. I have the noise, but it's slight in my case and I don't notice it most of the time.

I can't blame you for not wanting another Nissan. If it were me, I'd feel the same way. Like I would never buy a Ford truck again after the issues I had with mine.

Then in all honesty you shouldn't be telling people who have the problem it's minor. Instead you tell me it's minor and it's no big deal when you have no idea exactly how bad the problem is. You can get in your car and enjoy it and life is good so it's easy for you to say 'buy another Nissan'. But for me who has not been able to enjoy the car whatsoever for the past 9 months and have spent hours upon hours fighting with Nissan is done. The difference is I respect your opinion and never argued it, yet you and others wish to argue how I feel even though you have no idea what I have been through.
