Glass exploded on a passing car and owned my paint

Glass from a car that was passing me exploded and sprayed onto my passenger side. There are some 3 pea sized points where it went strait to the metal, the rest look like rock chip speckles along the passenger door and the rear fender.

Can't tell from a few feet away.

I couldn't get a hold of the car that the glass exploded on. Traffic was heavy and they immediately went to the side of the road and took an exit. I didn't want to get in a wreck to get over to that side and chase them. It was surreal seeing the glass explode from that window.

I have full coverage--what's the likelihood of comprehensive covering this? This would be my first insurance claim in 11 years! Going to see them tomorrow...

thats a wild story haha if i was the insurance company i would be like "wait.. what happened?" but im sure they will cover it since you haven't made a claim in 11 years

Ohhhh, you said glass explosion, not gas explosion!

PapoZalsa 03-14-2010 09:52 PM

That should be cover under your comprehensive insurance, however you pay the deductible.

LateralG'z 03-14-2010 09:56 PM

Geez that's just crazy. I once had someone drop their muffler right in front of me (doing 65) and it tore up my front bumber and damaged the grill (not my Z this was many years ago. That scared the hell out of me. You never know what's going to happen driving.

Sorry about your damage. You might want to get an estimate first before contacting your ins. co. If it's about the same as your deductable it would be better not to report it.

1500 for the repair. Insurance covering it.

Get her back next week.

That's sad.
At least your comprehensive insurance policy will cover it.
Also, I believe that some states can cover some damages like those (i.e. windshield, its very different, but check anyway)
