The Z is truly a head turner. The 135i is a head turner for different reasons. That thing is ugly as sin.

At least he did not start a new thread.

poster opens new thread on same subject as old thread: responders admonish poster for not using the search function and the end of the world gets just a little bit closer ...

Yeah, good point.

A little patience from the "old guys" is appreciated. Maybe what us "new guys" need to do is resurrect an old thread with the first comment stating "after having searched the site, I came upon this thread.............."

I realize most guys are poking fun, but one of the points of this site is to share information.

I thought the point was making fun of posters and BMW drivers?

Pelican170 08-25-2011 10:26 AM

Yes it has a turbo but stock vs. stock the Z is faster.. Depends I guess what your are planning on doing to it in the future. Of course im going to say the Z is better. Besides, the 135i is ugly IMO...

krzykanuk 08-25-2011 10:49 AM

If you have to think about it more than 3 seconds, get the BMW.

optiontrader 08-25-2011 12:28 PM

I always thought the 1-series looks like a 3-series that went thru a vacuum food-saver.

I chose the Z over the 135i. After seeing and hearing about the 1M couple, I am glad I did not wait on it. The 1M is very nice (to me at least) and tuned, yes both 135i and 1M will be much faster, but the Z just has that whip appeal and was more fun to drive (althought I have not driven the 1M, the Z can be tuned to be as faster if not faster for cheaper than a stock 1M).

Both are cool cars, but I would make the same decision again if I had to.

It depends. I mean, the internet's a place where we take our lumps.

There's also context. Sometimes a thread has been done to death and a guy asks the same question that's already been answered a thousand times. Sometimes a guy necros a thread just to post a useless bump to see if people will think the thread was new.

Either way, if you've got thin skin, no forum is going to suit your needs.

It's information plus goofing off.

+ conversations. Right? Sometimes we want more than just the facts we can find by researching a thread. Sometimes people just want to start/continue a conversation about a popular topic. It's no coincidence that people reopen or start new threads regarding topics that have been thrashed around for a long time ... they are popular topics of discussion no matter how jaded the "old-timers" feel about the subject.

Conversations, sure, but when it's a thread that people know will end in a huge flame war, experienced users try and head that off before it gets bad. Or when it's some ridiculous topic that's been covered ad nauseum, maybe just message a user from the old thread and get their take, rather than necro'ing a 2-yr-old thread?

You can hate older users as much as you like, but if you necro a thread or spawn a retread of another thread, you'll take some friendly ribbing for it. It's the price of doing business. Internetz is not srs bsns, and no one's going out of their way to offend anyone. It's playful. If you can't handle that, then I don't know what to tell you.

Does that mean you won't answer my question whether it's okay to burn regular gas in my Z and save the $0.25/per gallon on a car driven 7,000 miles a year? :stirthepot:

You guys are tough! :rofl2:

Zaggeron 08-25-2011 07:41 PM

@shadoquad

I'm not thin skinned or anything and I'm not really advocating on my behalf since I mostly post in social threads anyway. Jokes and ribbing are understandable and expected in a resurrected thread, but I don't really understand why people get so upset about new threads that rehash old topics. I mean who cares. If you don't want to discuss it then don't post.

Some of those topics are interesting precisely because there is always the tendency to devolve into a flame war. Frankly I love a good slam-bam toss out the insults flame war -- lol ... keeps the moderators on their toes. Besides, this is the internet and flames don't burn :stirthepot:

Flame wars achieve nothing. Drama. Not something I enjoy. And I'll post where I like until mods tell me otherwise. That includes jokes. Sorry.

Cute.

I try to be helpful to anyone here if I can answer their question, but I can also be silly or joke around.

It's just a forum guys. Try not to take it so srsly.
