Crazed street racers
 

Does anyone else have the problem of seemingly normal types turning into crazed street racers whenever they pull along side your Z?
Granted, this happens mostly in my home town of about 70,000. Larger cities don't seem to have the same affliction.
Lately though, it seems every 4 banger with a fart can momentarily loses their mind. I had a teen with an Echo launch at a busy intersection... mid afternoon. Same day a crotch rocket popped off a wheelie and carried it a full block to the next red light.

At first I figured.... coincidence. Chill man, it's self fulfilling cause I'm looking for it. Then my passenger says..... WTFs' goin' on?
I'm getting to the point where I don't make eye contact with any car near me else they might get that look!
Seems just the sight of the Z raises testosterone levels in some guys.
Maybe if I lost the tow hook and painted it pink.

Happens all the time to me here in Vegas man. Friggin highschoolers with suped up civics. lol

That why i dont make eyes contact here in vegas lol..If they wanna be stupid just let them be..

it happens everywhere. it comes with the territory of having a sports car, especially if its a brand new sports car. take it as a form of flattery from the fart can community.

I get it with Mustangs, without exageration each one that has been next to me or behind me at a light has tried to get me to go. And more often than not if ones behind me a ways on the highway will fly by me at about 90. Hell my eyes arn't good enough to tell my cars a sports car from that far away

yeah it happens to just about everyone. just like another person said, i don't/hardly ever make eye contact anymore, even at a light. let them act stupid and go about your way; they're more likely to get the ticket if anything happens

and then there are another group of drivers who would change to a slower lane whenever they see your car in their rear view mirrors (even though you are only driving with the flow of traffic) :)

Yep... same in Phoenix. As stated above, I just do not make eye contact...

Hmm, I dont get it much here near Baltimore/DC, but then again, traffic is so bad there is almost never any room to do any of those hijinx...

Depends on where I am in Houston, but many times I am on the freeway and they cannot keep up. I hear them many times drop gear and try to catch up but once there car gets above a certain MPH it gets unstable and you see them fall back. So they never come near me, if I am at a street light or just going around town, every so often I hear one try to rev it to get my attention thinking they are cool.

I rev the piss out of the Z when they challenge me at stoplights. Then on green, I let them make complete foolz of themselves while I pull away normally. :tup:

Ever notice how many ricers are belching tons of smoke from their exhaust?

I even get people in trucks and minivans that rev at me, its hilarious. Here's a solution, do 5% tint all around like me, you can stare at them all you want and they wont even know :)

here's the funny thing, those trucks and minivans are often faster than some of those mustangs and fart can civics! :rofl2:

I used to own a Mazda Rotary Pickup. Thing was way sick at stoplights.

Ahhh this is really annoying, I had this happen to me yesterday.

Driving on a 2 lane highway around philly, an eclipse starts riding my ***, pulls into the next lane and flies by me...he slows down so we're next to each other again....he pulls off again. He did this 3 times. Oh and he was doing this while it was POURING rain.

when i had my mustang everyone tried to race. now i don't really have anyone trying except a few corvette's and some street bikes

not so much near by but when i go west a little too far from my area rednecks in pickups want to race all the time. a few years ago i was joking that whenever you see too many blondies in red pontiacs you went out too far. :D hahahaha.

now a days they drive hyundais and kia's...

i had a huge f150 or 250... desil go flying past me.. i hit it just to see how fash it was going.. then slowed back down.. he was going 120... weaving in and out of traffic...

i have had great respect for corvettes ever since a corvette driver showed me how fast his car was at the stoplights a number of years ago.

i felt like my car was going in reverse as he was accelerating :eek:

I only got stoplight raced once and it was one of those new Z4s.

NOBODY wants to race me. I guess that all the freaks are stuck in golfs or civics

I live next to MUSTANG-VILLE, and wheather they have a 98 or 09, they always try and woof me. I let them do their thing...my car wasn't built to be stupid. I still have respect for the Mustang "America's Pony" but DAYMN, the owners are dense!

based upon the videos i have seen on youtube, if a lotus exige came along, I would roll down the window and tell the driver: "you win" :)

I have this neighbor across the street who made it a point to rev his 2000 cobra as loud as he could whenever i was washing my car, then he'd back out of his drive and go tearing down the street like an idiot, speed limit is 25 by the way... Lol, sweet justice the other day when I come home and see his car with the front bumper cover off, getting winched onto a trailer. I go over and look in the engine bay because the hood is open and what do I see, his timing chain sprocket has snapped off launching the chain on the driver side through the cover and top of the valve cover. Even better is he did it right around the corner from where we live. Apparently he doesnt realize that its bad to start your car and then immediately do that kind of crap, especially as often as he did. sorry about the long post.

And as far as people acting crazy around the Z... I feel ya man, people here in Enterprise, AL arent very considerate drivers anyway, then I get the Z, it's almost comical, almost.

Most of my aggro comes from Porsche owners without fail.

If it wouldn't get my car keyed I'd get the plates "LOLUMAD"

I pulled into the gas station and I see a black gt3 already getting gas.
He was staring at my car as I pulled in.
I get out to pump my gas and he's about to leave and all of a sudden he does a burnout and chirps like no other! LOL!

Its only happened once. A kid started revving his engine while we were at a red light. I looked to my right and hes in a Civic SI. Without even thinking I just started laughing really hard. The kid got real mad looking and sad something like, "well come on then....somthing somthing mumble". The light turned green and I let him go. I don't street race. Sometimes on the interstate I will gun it when challenged but I won't go anymore then 10 over the speed limit. Fk this kid and his Civic SI.

If the kid in the honda civic is reading this thread then, FK U Honda civic kid with your stupid vanilla ice leather ball cap.

in my experience, a fast driver in a slow car will always drive faster than a slow driver* in a fast car :)

*'slow' driver= driver who obeys posted speed limits
