I feel you.
Just wondering about this as I am very tall and do not remember this when test driving, not going to be a deal break I assume though.

Oh, hardly - more just, I wish it didnt stick out so much. We wear big boots in the mil, so I just have to be particularly careful not to nick it when getting out...

You can turn this off without touring as well, it's described in the manual. If I remember correctly you have to start the car or turn on accessories and within 30 seconds hit and hold the door lock button in a certain direction.

why would you turn it off? just curious its just a safety feature so the doors are not opened while the vehicle is in motion.

Grievance: Cannot open trunk with Z running; whether in Park or Neutral. You have to turn-off the car.
Accolade: Love the scale of the 370Z.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I hated the sound of the doors locking each time I went anywhere. I have been driving since 1992 and I've never been in a situation either as driver or passenger where the door suddenly came open. In fact if my car were to ever become submerged in an accident I'd much rather have the doors unlocked than locked.

Electrical components continue to work for several minutes in a submerged car.( saw it on TV)

I prefer mine locked because if someone were to try to carjack me, it might give me 2 extra seconds to draw my gun. But that's just me.

Well if the was damaged in an accident who's to say whether everything will work properly or not..? That aside having to fumble for the locks, and then opening the doors is an extra step I wouldn't want to deal with. BTW this sort of accident occured recently and two of four people were killed when they were unable to exit the car.

If I lived in a highly trafficked urban area I would do the same.

Wait, so the doors auto lock but don't open when u pull the handle? My car auto locks but all I have to do is pull the door handle and it opens (no need to press the unlock button and then open the door). I agree, I think the auto lock features is to prevent "other" people from getting into the car, rather than the passenger and driver opening it accidentally.
