I'm really trying to hold out until the 2010 model arrives, and threads like this help. I'd like to think they will fix at least some of these problems. Considering so many mags complained about the fuel gauge, I peg that for something that will be changed.

No heated mirrors, WTF is that about? Where I live it's foggy most of the winter and this is a huge safety issue.

No interior fuel release, not a big deal to most but here in Orygun we're too stupid to pump our own gas, so we hire people even dumber to do it for us. Now I have to get out of the car every time to open the fuel door.

No interior trunk release. Why?

Blind spots are terrible and dangerous.

No back up camera. Hello this is a $40k car in the year 2009.

The fuel gauge area/info center is dumb and looks out of place.

When you have your high beams on the little blue light in the dash is very bright and distracting. And it does not dim with the rest of the panel. Why?

No fog lights.

It seems like there should be a bit more sound insulation in the rear near the tires as you get a lot of road noise and other noises from debris in the wheel wells.

These are mostly minor gripes. The car is fantastic to look at and drive. The navi is great as well. The Bose system is just fine for me. I buy new cars every 2 years or so, so I've had many, and I've never had one that was perfect, there were always a few things that drove me crazy, and this car is no exception.

I agree with you about not having the back up camera. The 370Z uses the same navi/hard drive unit that I have in my G sedan so I don't know why it doesn't have the back up camera like the G does. I know Nissan is going to add a backup camera to it (I hear the JDM 370Z has it already) so I'm tempted to not get a 370Z until it's offered here.

The 370Z does have fog lights, they're found integrated in the headlight assembly (like on G sedans and other cars).

I can't wait that long. I'd rather buy a new one now and trade it in when the new models come out. I need a new car ASAP! So this is what I'm doing!

Nissan wants to set the Infiniti's apart enough to make a clear difference between them. So back up camera in the US market may not happen at all. I'm really angry about that, though, since the back end on the Z is going to be a little hard to judge.

The crappy economy lowering the amount of my trade helps the wait. ;]

I only back into my own garage, so it shouldnt be too much of a concern. Maybe I would just hang a tennis ball like my grandparents.

Yeah, I parallel park a lot here in Los Angeles... It's pretty much the only way to get parking anywhere. Not to mention that I'm in a car club, so we cruise everywhere and we HAVE to parallel park in some CRAMPED placed.

frost 01-26-2009 08:13 PM

We aren't big into the parallel parking thing here. I can't remember the last time I had to do it.

Crash 01-26-2009 08:14 PM

WOW! Lucky. I do it every day I drive.

TerribleONE 01-26-2009 08:21 PM

im coming from a G37... and honestly the backup camera is only useful to get an idea of your surroundings.. its very hard to judge distance with and doesnt help you really parallel park or back into spots.. So with that being said.. is it really that big of a deal? IMO no.. is it nifty... yes.. if it were available would i order it..? sure why not

frost 01-26-2009 08:23 PM

When I park, it tends to be back of the lot where I can take up a couple spots anyway.

Ditto!

Now for my little rant.

Tougher crash standards and other regulations add weight to the current vehicles so the consumers tells Nissan that we want more for our money and a lighter car. Nissan says ok consumer here is your better and lighter 370Z for just about the same money. Consumer says, hey Nissan, what happened to all of the unnecessary stuff that made the car heavier than the out going model and more disconnected from the road. Nissan says we left it all in the scale tipping G37 for all to marvel. :stirthepot:

Woah lots of responses so far! Man I barely noticed about the no rear windshield wiper, I didn't even notice that on my test drive. It rained here Sunday and the rear wiper was a must on my 350z otherwise I just couldn't see behind me. All things to take into consideration I guess but I'll be visiting some SoCal dealerships this weekend and take a closer look but I think I'm still getting it, I mean its a sports car not a mini van.
