Question about the Z's seats for the bigger guys

I went for my first test drive the other day in a 2010 Touring Sport. The whole time I felt the seat jabbing into my back. I'm not sure if it was the bolsters or what. I haven't had a chance to go back to the dealer and look more closely at the seats themselves. All I thought of while driving was how uncomfortable it was. Anywho, I was wondering do the more husky individuals who own a Z have the same issue or not. Is it a setting I could change, ie like a lumbar adjustment knob etc. Any insight would be most appreciated, as it kind of left a sour taste in my mouth toward the Z considering I have a pretty long commute. Thanks Guys.

Might have just been the Lumbar cranked all the way out. Between that and the seat back angle you should be able to find a better position..

It was high, like in my shoulder blade area. I feel like my STi seats would be similar and I find those very comfortable. It's got me a little perplexed.

I know what you are describing and it is the active head restraint built in to the seat.
Looking for the picture to explain it.

Yeah, that may be it. If your head is against the head restraint, you'll feel those arms about where you describe...

It's a whiplash prevention device, not a headrest! :)

Why does it look like a headrest?:icon18:

If it looks like a headrest, and it feels like a headrest, it, um....shoot, how'd the rest go?

STi 5 03-08-2010 08:41 PM

I don't remember having my head against the headrest, as I never do in the STi. Thus causing the arms to pivot into my back as I think I am grasping from the description and pic given. Just sucks, cause I had my mind made up that this is the car I was going to go for in the next few weeks. If I pulled the trigger, I'd have to order a new seat the same day as that was very uncomfortable. I'll definately go back to a dealer and sit in a different car to see if it is the same before I completely write the Z off. I seriously walked away from the test drive completely bummed. Thanks a bunch guys.

I'm rather small, 5'7" & 154lb's. The seats fit me perfect so I can only imagine how they would not fit a large person.

im 6-4 230 and i like the seats. But I want to swap out the seats from some NRG racing seats. IT has alot more room then the stock seats.

How far down do you have to duck when looking out the rearview dude? :ugh2:

Is it a no no (from a legal perspective) to yank out the stock seats for aftermarket ones since the aftermarket seats do not have airbags??
