Sport rotor wear at 450mi???

I just noticed this today, I have only 450mi on my Z and BOTH front and rear drivers side rotors have some grooving in them. The fronts aren't that bad but you can see them and you can feel them if you run a finger over them. The rear drivers side is more noticeable. It's not that bad, but when you consider I've only put 450mi on the car and have been babying it the whole time, I'm beginning to wonder if I should contact the dealer before I put any more miles on. The right sides feel smooth as glass. Are the sport rotors just soft? Should I be concerned about the uneven wear from driver/pass side?

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area, it looks like the brake section is more about aftermarket kits.

Mine are clean both sides. Sounds like the dealership should take a look.

Arrrghhhh not what I wanted to hear. The dealer I purchased from is 1.5hrs away :( Can anyone else weigh in on this?

Thanks

Any Nissan dealer could take a look at it. The warranty is cover by any Nissan dealer.

You don't have to bring it to the dealership you purchased from. Or is the closest one 1.5 hours away?

Silly me, I was thinking this should be something I should take up with the dealer I purchased from. Thanks I'll take it up with a local dealer instead.

Sorry to ask, but what is a sport rotor?

spearfish25 03-05-2010 09:37 PM

Probably the larger rotors that come with the sport package Akebono brakes.

Stuff can happen. A few years back, I bought a top of the line Honda Accord Coupe 6cyl 6 spd. Got brake rotor warping and pulsations at less than 300 miles. Service guy wouldn't believe me until he drove it and after 2 minutes, said,"Well I'll be damned." Analysis simply was defective rotors. Honda immediately put on new rotors, pads, etc. and the problem was solved and never recurred during my multi-year ownership of the car. Hopefully, same thing will happen for you.

Sometime, small stone can get between the pads & the discs, causing lines to form..

Bringing it in to the dealer Monday. We'll see what they say.
