i have been in the market for about 3 months, all i want is a PG Manual with SPRT PKG, i live in LA the second most populated city in the USA and cant seem to find the Z i want car. most the dealerships only have like 4-8 Z's in stock, and its mostly touring and nismo.

Nope...I have one in my garage.

Also, dealerships having 4-8 in stock - that's a LOT of Z inventory. Think of the many thousands of Nissan dealers. Think that for 2009 there were 10,000 units made for the whole year. (I think)

That means most dealerships, if they were lucky, would have 1...higher volume dealers could have 3-4.

It's because you want the most common... err ummm.. I mean popular color. You should think about something more... umm... vibrant!

so order one from the dealer. In the time you've spent searching, you could have taken delivery. I ordered mine. its supposed to be here in 3 months. I didn't even bother trying to find mine in a dealer. Although what you want shouldn't be that hard to find. Its kind of ridiculous that its hard to find a manual transmission with a SPORT package on a SPORTS car. right around now is when dealers are placing their orders. if you don't get in on one now you can hope theres one for you when the start coming in in the spring, if there isn't, then you'll have to wait till 2011. OR you can order and guarantee one is waiting for you in june

That particular combo might just not be that popular in your area. For me it was difficult to find a fully loaded 2010 6MT Coupe. I'm not really sure how these dealers determine which options to order so it could just be the luck of the draw if your combo is ordered.

Buena Park Nissan has two 2009's in stock your color, but no mention of trans or sports package (they want you to call them). They have eighteen 370Zs.

I really don't understand why everyone thinks a car needs to be purchased locally.

I waited till around the end of the month, I got my approval letter through my credit union, went online, and found every dealer in the country that had the exact car I wanted. I emailed everyone with my approval letter and a copy of dealer invoice pricing for the 370z. I told them if they would sell me the car at dealer invoice I would fly out the next day to purchase the vehicle. About 4 out of the 7 contacted me back within 24 hours. 2 of those went $100.00-$200.00 over invoice and the other 2 were $500-$600 over invoice. I went online and determined which dealer out of the 5 was cheaper to Fly to and drive back from and that's the one I chose.

This saved me $3000+ of what all the local dealers would give me. It also allowed me to skip the whole, "hey would you like an undercoat, top coat, anti theft, blah blah garbage with the sale because I had to get the exact amount of the purchase price over the phone to give to my lender to overnight them the check. I flew out the next and enjoyed my 6 hour drive home in my new Z.

Exactly what I did. Drove a little, saved a lot and got exactly the car I wanted. Found a dealer in large, highly competitive, metropolitan market who was willing to sell below invoice because he had that car in stock and was anxious to turn it over. On a $30,000/$40,000 business transaction, a few bucks for a plane ticket and a some joyous hours driving your new car home is a small price to pay (no pun intended) for a good deal. Actually, it's creative business practice in our new world of auto shopping! Take advantage of the opportunity if you can.

Not everyone has the time or patience to fly out to buy a car and drive it back. In my case the cars I wanted were over a days drive back. No way I could afford to do that.
