white or not white

hi folks,
there are not many white 370Z's you can look at here in germany and no one could get me an answer.
i am close to buy one in white but someone told me, Nissan's white is not real white because of its 2 layer metallic structure?
does it really shine pink in the sun?

your help is very much appreciated

Just got a white, don't think it has any tint of pink at all in the sun. I think you should go white, I had a silver 350 and I regretted it all the time, it seemed so bland. Had a black g37 and I think the white stands out much more. Just my opinion, but I think the white is pretty white.

Our white is Pearl white in North America, it is made in a 3 layer process. It does not look pink in the sun, it just has that pearl effect (little silverish/blue colored specks). Hard to explain what "actual" color it looks like in direct sun, but not pink.

i'm white...or so i think

You see tiny little reflections of light in many different colors in direct light. Think "prism"

It looks really good when it's clean and sunny, although when it's dirty and crappy outside it can start to look a little dull.

I love the color of my car every day regardless though, because I know what it looks like when it's lookin good

Check out my galleries, there are many different pics in all kinds of light, etc.

Sidenote: GET A CLEAR BRA. Best $1000 you can put on these cars. Whole bumper and hood at least. Fenders and A-Pillars are nice too. Surprisingly enough I don't have any chips on my mirrors (yet). I made the mistake of not getting one so I've got some body work to get done before I do. :shakes head:

Man you are lucky, with these pot hole, pot hole filled streets in Dallas. I have found 3 new nicks, one on the top of my hood (beyond clear bra) and 1 on the drivers side mirror. When a car hits that stuff the filling breaks apart and shoots up.

thanks a lot,
i looked at many white 370Z's pictures and the car looks really nice, on some
one can see the prism effect.
after two black audi avants it's a BIG step for me.

im kinda yellow, but i sound white. and my attitude is definitely bold white. :p

i like white 370z's... but their rear bumpers are kinda always off-color. :icon14:

white... as racist as that sounds, white all the way =)

no pinkness, a tingle of yellow to it cause it's off-white... the car is beautiful...

My front bumper disgusts me every time I look at it closely there are so many pits in it. Thankfully it's mostly white FRP (or whatever material) so it's not too obvious from far. I do have some right on my headlight seam in my passenger fender, one of which is larger than a BB. :(

I also have a few on my hood, even one pretty close to the windshield, and a rock chip in the shield itself near the lower middle. Saw a random one on the driver quarter about handle-height the other day too.

It's upsetting most of the time, but I'll just get it all fixed and get a clear bra down the line.

Yeah it's a big color change but also a big car change. Have some fun in the Z, leave the Audi for the SRS BSNS :rofl2:

No discoloring/mismatch bumper vs fender or 1/4 panel here either, and not on my Max either which is 6.5 yrs old.

vipor 03-02-2010 04:01 PM

Pearl White (QAB) is the paint code in question, and it is a known issue unfortunately. It has to do with how the paint works on metal vs plastic.

I see a very very slight difference with my front bumper, but I think that's more because I actually look for it sometimes.

kenchan 03-02-2010 04:52 PM

yah, i had a diamond white pearl car in the past and being a picky guy that i am i noticed differences between the sheetmetal and plastic color too. it's basically due to not being painted at the same session. the metallic particles are not oriented the same way so the light reflection is different.

but this is also pretty obvious on my silvers too. like my 370z' hatch silver is different in some lighting conditions vs the roof. or the gas cover appears a different silver vs quarter panel, etc in different lighting conditions.

zebulon 03-03-2010 02:52 PM

you're right, white is right

just returned from a 500 mile trip just to look at it today!
the car still had some of the protection foil on it.
and yeah it's true there is a slight color differnce on the bumper, well nothing is perfect (on audi the brakes :shakes head:)
i will oder tomorrow....:excited:

SRS BSNS

A contraction of 'Serious Business', popularly used among the Red vs Blue forums, as well as various other ports of call around the internet.

It's main use is mocking, when someone takes the internet too seriously or takes a joke too seriously, people will often remark on how it is "srs bsns".

Teh internets is srs bsns

I was mocking the Audi calling it a sedan basically.
