Where are your numbers for an HR engine (07-08)? If I remember right, my stock 07 HR 6mt put down 20 HP more than my wife's modded 06 rev-up 6mt - same dyno, same day. So bottom line here is that the 370 makes only 4 more HP than the HR 350? Of course your dynos are not done on the same day, so maybe that's it. Maybe the 370 has more drivetrain loss.. ?? A dyno is only pointless if you're just looking for a "number". If the 370Z read 310 whp in a dynapack, then read 240 in a mustang dyno, does that make any difference? |

One of the many reasons why dynapacks are great is because they are very consistent. I have never seen that consistency from any other dyno. Not only that, but the fact that they read off of the hubs really shows how specifics mods affected your cars performance without having other variables such as a change in rotational mass (ie. just happened to get a new set of wheels that are heavier) skewing the effects of engine modifications. I'm not saying other dynos aren't good for tuning but its great to avoid all those other variables when someone is tuning a car. Speaking in general and not directing this to anyone... people these days care too much about "numbers", specifically peak numbers, without really understanding what they're really looking at. On most 6-speed cars, the difference in numbers between 4th and 5th is negligible, if any. We did test in 5th as compared to 4th on one pull and it was exactly identical. Other cars, not just Nissans, have shown the same thing for us. Using 4th as opposed to 5th goes a little quicker and puts a bit less stress on the engine.
For what it's worth, we were able to achieve similar results yesterday, proving the DD's consistency. We decided to test XXX Racing Fuel's 138 octane oxygenated blend. It was good for a 14whp gain through much of the powerband. Not bad for just adding some gas! Full story and video on our blog: XXX Racing Fuel gains 14whp on stock 370Z : Injected Performance Blog |

Interesting. I think over here (without going to a boat-yard) we can only get up to 105 octane. But either way, not bad.

Now I have a headache. I got mine tuned on a Dyno Dynamics after throwing on K&Ns and Stillen Exhausts, I ended up with 286.3whp... How much is that in HP if stock runs at 258whp?

What was "tuned" on the dyno? Did you baseline it before the mods? |
