Buy a 370z now or wait for 370z conv

What would you guys do?
I really like the new Z and the sketches on the 370z conv looks real nice too.

How much of a price difference are we talking about here?

semtex 01-22-2009 12:54 PM

What's the price diff. between coupe and convertible w/ the 350? I'd use that to estimate the differential with the 370.

Robert_Nash 01-22-2009 01:32 PM

You can likely expect a $3-$5K price differential.

If you really want a roadster and have the funds then I'd wait or I'd seriously consider a G37 Convertible which will be available shortly.

^ looks like you had a roadster but got the 370z...
do you miss the roadster?

the g37conv not a big fan.i was never a big fan of a conv with backseats.(lexus sc, bmw3, etc.)

3-5k is not that bad for a drop top!!!

I loved my roadster and would have gotten a 370Z roadster had it been available this year...however, the 370 is enough "better" than the 350 that I don't mind living with a coupe for a while. :)

ah...i see...hmmmm
gotta think about this for a bit.

G37 convert FTL it looks like a$$

SMcK23 01-22-2009 03:55 PM

I have never been a fan of soft top convertibles, but this one I am going for. I'm going to at least wait and see how it looks before deciding between the coupe and drop top. Having had a coupe Z already, I'll tell you I wish it would be feasible to have a sunroof or something but the next best thing is the drop top. So patience will be the key...you can make the best decision with both of them available.

hardtopnow 01-22-2009 04:22 PM

I am trading in my convertible for the hardtop, hence my call name. Anyway, I like having the roadster, but always liked the look of the hardtop better. I hope I don't miss it, but I doubt it. The softtops just don't look right to me. If the 370 eventually comes out with a hardtop convertible, that may be sweet.

Of course it depends on the individual. I originally bought the roadster to get the open air feeling without having my wife divorce me if I went out and got back into crotch rockets. Anyway, I like it, but time for a change. Just my two cents. Get whatever you like!!!

brisk 01-22-2009 07:12 PM

thats true.
i guess i can wait till april till the auto show and see how it looks.
i was never fan of the soft top and never fan of verts with backseats.

shumby i agree...g37 coupe is bad.................

You have to be careful with the G37 coupe...any model with the sunroof (and the sunroof is on all but the base model) you loose almost 2" of headroom and that's which means 2" less headroom than either the 350 or 370 coupe.

So...unless you like to almost lay down when you drive, anyone with much of their height in their torso may well have their head constantly hitting the very hard and unforgiving "lip" around the sunroof opening.

Sit in a G37 coupe before you buy one!

brisk 02-06-2009 11:19 PM

yea not really a fan of soft tops when its up.
so if i do get the conv. i would have to always drive with the top down.
ah....i don't know. i got a good deal right now and they are saying in spring, prices are going to be going up....

do you think prices will go up in spring/summer?

par4bmw 02-06-2009 11:31 PM

I do not think prices will go up anytime soon. Would be shocked if they went up in the summer as well. Cars are not selling. Would be suicide to raise prices. I think they are just using normal scare tactics to attempt for an immediate sale.

But, could be wrong obviously.

brisk 02-07-2009 12:11 AM

true that cars are not selling...but sports cars would be in more demand(if any) in the spring/summer. not saying that there will be a demand for a 2 seater summer car....

I don't think you are wrong. This "spendulus" package isn't going to do much for the economy to warrant a dramatic raise in car sales. The dealers here tried to pull the same crap on me until I said, "Either you take my sale now, or I walk away and go to someone that wants my money."

Funny enough, they were :nutswinger: shortly after. hahahahahaha
