Suggestions for Z Logo

I'm ordering my aftermarket leather seats (Katzkins) for my red base 370Z. We're doing black leather, with black/red perforated leather inserts and an embossed red logo on each headrest. A red Z logo on the black leather headrest is fine but I'm seeking suggestions for something a little more original and elaborate for the logo. Any thoughts?

You can buy fairlady Z badging and emboss the "fairladyZ" on the headrest or upper part of the seat? Its kinda hard to come up with a lot of ideas for embossed seats other than the names associated with the car. "Nissan, Z, Z34, FairladyZ. Or maybe take it to the next level and emboss the engine designation... VQ37HR??? Not sure how that would look but its all I got for now.

Personally I like Katzkins' embossing option and it would be nice if you did Z34.

vipor 02-23-2010 09:24 AM

I like Z34 or Nismo (for me heh) or just the classic Nissan

"370" or "370Z" or "Old Guy"

I did the same with my car as part of the deal to buy it. They used Katzkins and I got it in blue since my car is blue. When I was deciding on the headrest thing, they only gave me a few options for the "Z" as they said it could get into the legal aspect of using a design that is patented (?). So I had a basic bold "Z" put on. It didnt resemble the Nissan Z so it was OK. So far the seats are doing great and actually feel a little more plush than the stock seats.

im on the Z34 side, nice and simple.
years back i saw a parked car and it looked like they're design on the headrest were eyes, they were red.. looked crazy.

I think you only get one letter or logo to put there, they have a size restraint.

I don't know if it's right but babelfish says this: 日本語
Those logo's and text on their website seem a lot bigger....
(Including their own name)

Katzkin Leather Interiors

If your car is read and it's black leather, something like this might look good:

uhh....you just put the kanji for "Japanese language". if you wanted fairlady, you'd use this:

フェアレディZ

slynky, i think there'd be copyright violation issues galore using that Z.

Would you say there would be a problem using ANY kind of Z by itself on the seats?

How can you copyright a letter? Also its highly unlikely nissan is going to sue you unless you start selling headrests lol..

I like Z34

phelan 02-23-2010 04:59 PM

I'm just saying looking from a company's standpoint, it's a rare chance Nissan will fuss over it, but that rare chance can be costly. I'm not against it or anything, I think it would look great!

You just might need to convince them to do it...

No Nissan might not but the shop that did the install said the company didnt want to take any chances.

I hear you but the warranty on the seats isnt from Nissan but the company Katzkins themselves, so all I have to do is take it to a shop that deals in them and show them my warranty card.

Or were you refering to the emblom thing?

phelan 02-23-2010 05:57 PM

I was referring to the emblem.

That logo is beautiful. I think I'll reverse the color for my red car and have the Z in mostly red on the black leater with the silver outline. Katzskins?

Barracuda red is the actual name of black/red perforated leahter for the inserts with red stitching. Sound OK? This is an irrevocable changer to the car (although I'm keeping the old cloth covers) and I've never done this before. I just don't want to harm my beautiful new toy.

IF there is no problem using a single letter "Z", I would be glad to try a few ideas out for you with that letter in Photoshop. I'm not a great designer, but it IS one of the major aspects of my job for the government. And I currently work for a small-time label doing album art and advertising design outside my regular government job.

Free, of course.

Sure! Red with silver outline against black leather would be my preference. A "restrained" Z would be preferred.

red on black will look good. I will have to look moer closely but I think the "Z" is stitched.

By restrained, I assume you mean NOT a lot of flair...just a little. NOT a wild and crazy Z but not just block letters.
