As logical as it seems there is potential for it to negatively impact the hold performance. But I'm no hydraulic engineer and until someone proves otherwise I'll be adding clamps to mine too

I was aware of those comments from Aeroquipt. Keep in mind these weren't cinched up tight. Just tight enough so that the depressions between the ribs would not expand enough to be able to slip over them. FWIW, more of a Fail-safe then a clamp.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your mishap Mike. Glad you weren't hurt and the damage to the car isn't too bad. Looks like you at least figured out what the problem was. Looks like Modshack's idea of adding some extra clamping with the zip ties is a good one too.

thanks! I never saw the smoke or oil. The corner worker told me it looked like I blew my engine and I thought he was whacked. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until I hit the brakes!

fyi there are still a few 'regular' insurance companies that will write policies covering incidents at a track DE event - so long as it is not a 'timed event'... I have used Liberty Mutual for the last 4 years for this reason... in all likelihood, I wouldn't attempt a claim with my car, but good to know the option is there

Another failed oil cooler, damn this is not good...You sir are an excellent driver, 120mph into a blind spin with minimal damage, nice job.

Its one of the few spots on VIR that has remotely enough run-off space. Its not a very forgiving track, at all. Just go to youtube and search VIR Crash - you'll find mine up top, along with many others lol.

I keep going back and forth on the wrap. If I get it, it will be flat black, with gloss black THEPOWDERCOATER.COM on the doors and hood. I have been saying its either roughly 750-900 for the full clear bra or 1500-2000 for the wrap, so the wrap isn't that much more, but I may not be able to wrap fresh paint. Other option is not painting the new parts at all, just having the body shop replace them and then wrap to save money, or, just say screw it and get it painted and do nothing more. Let it get chipped up and then paint it again in a few years if I want to sell instead of turning it into a dedicated track only racecar. It really is all going to come down to $$$$ and I take it to the bodyshop tomorrow.
