That looks like a highway access road -- perhaps I35 near Austin, TX. Perhaps the spin happened after a right or left turn onto the access road. So he could have been turning onto the access road at the speed limit, then goosed it to get up to the access road speed of 50 mph. No VDC and perhaps a spot of wet pavement near the intersection could easily cause a spin if you slam the pedal to get to 50 from 25 in second gear.

Since he said his right rear tire hit the curb, I'm guessing this happened after a left turn onto the access road? Am I getting warm?

I think it's already happened. My rates are double what they were on my 470hp '08 Vette, and I'm over 60....

Yes it's very sad when you turn off a safety feature that was designed to(sometimes) prevent loss of control! That could prevent you from wrecking, or killing some one!

Other than that, hope you get it fixed like new.

If you know how to control/handle the car, there is nothing wrong with turning off VDC. With VDC on, it holds the car back, even when punching the throttle on dry pavement in a straight line. With VDC off, it's like unleashing the car and being able to use all of the performance that the Z has to offer - if you know how to use it!

But I thought that when you buy a nismo, some of the extra money goes towards buying driving experience?

Anyone else only turn their VDC off in the rain?

Do you drive with Vehicle Dynamic Control(VDC) off or on?

For me, my 350Z doesn't have VDC, so I'm used to it.
Plus the car lets you play on the limit, so if you know what you're doing it won't kick your ***...

and this is why i won't turn off VDC until i can find myself a giant skidpad to play on. I don't want to test the limits of the car (and my driving ability) on public streets. I'll keep the nanny on in public.
Sounds like you're ok, thankfully no one was hurt.
