my Porsche doesn't have this... then again i can see the gas door from the drivers seat...

Snopes has debunked this going back to 2007 when it started making the rounds as spam.

But, hey, any car has a 50/50 shot of it being correct since there's only two possible placements for the gas cap.

Snopes article is talking about the handle. This thread is about the little triangle arrow (I think).

The Snopes article refers to the pump icon. The OP was for an arrow next to the icon. The arrow points to the side of the vehicle the filler door is on.

Noted: you drive a '74, you get a free pass
