I was hoping to practice that very thing, but unfortunately my friend doesn't wanna lend me his m3, and my other friend doesn't wanna lend me his 335i, and the rental companies do not have MT cars. Oh, and I'm not stupid enough to try it on my Z

I learned on a beat up POS at work one day, years ago. Its kinda like those survival shows on TV, you can learn some cool stuff, but will it ever need to be used, probably not! Same thing here.

to me it would defeat the purpose of owning a car with a clutch. i bought a car with a clutch because i want to use it

I haven't tried it in my z, but where I work we have a geo tracker that whenever I drive it I never ever use the clutch, I just rev match it and it slides right into gear. Its not worth the time save in the Z though.

When I had my 350 I was told by a couple reliable sources (personal mechanic, Nissan service reps) that it was in NO WAY bad for the car, and I have never had a problem with transmission for the three years I had the car. Now keep in mind if your doing this, it does need to be at the correct rpms otherwise you will hurt your tranny. It should come out real easy, and slide into the next year real easy, if you feel pressure your doing it wrong. I rarely do this though to be honest, and when i do its pretty much only from 3rd to 4th when I'm feeling lazy driving around town.

I understand why many people are commenting saying "NOOOO" but its probably because unless you do it correctly your going to ef something up, and it is kind of pointless. Also, advice like this I wouldn't take from Z drivers on a forum, your best bet is to find a friend who is a mechanic or at least a mechanic you can trust and talk to them. That's what I did.

Btw - I DO NOT have the sport package on my Z

Well the thing is, it is pointless and it is risky because you can screw things up if you're not doing it right. It's best just to know the science behind it so if you ever get into a situation where you HAVE to do it you are armed with the knowledge to make it happen.

I do clutchless shifts on my motorcycle when i'm being a bit lazy or when i'm really winding the gears out hard on the free way but it's a wet clutch sooo

i did it for a week in a rent vehicle. It was great, i got around without the clutch for 2nd to 6th gear in a corolla... (can't remember if it was a 5 or 6 gear car).

I'd never try it for my zed but

i got to know my old g35 so well that i could upshift and downshift without the clutch and never grind... i was even able to downshift to first at about 3 mph without the clutch too... id do it messing around all the time. I havent tried it on the 370 but I'm pretty sure any manual tranny has times where the syncros are open you just need to feel it out and know where it is...

def pointless and not all that smart to do, but if you do it right its no different than pressing the clutch in to allow the tranny to shift.
