Yes, learn how to drive a car without depending on the vehicle's computer to do it for ya. Us old guys grew up with rear wheel drive and posi-traction. Just as many accidents back then as there are now with the newer cars and dynamic control mechanisms. Shouldn't there be less accidents? I know my insurannce rates never go down.

Off on surface streets, but on when I'm on the freeway.
If it rains here (rare) I'll leave it on. Countless times I've made a right-hand turn and went to accelerate (normally) and it felt like I missed a shift or something, but the TCS just cut power. **** that annoying ****, making me look bad and almost killing me. |

I always keep VDC off. I was taking a fast sharp turn while vdc was on, and the tires spinned a little bit and it cut throttle on me making me cruise like 1 mph on the turn, the guy in oncoming traffic had to slow down for me to get in the lane. Very embarrassing and dangerous. With VDC on, you have to drive normally. Such as when you'll have to wait until its clear enough to take a turn and you'll be waiting there a long time if there is a lot of traffic. I can't explain it clear enough, you can drive easy with vdc on, but if you ever had to give it more gas and tires spin just a little bit, have fun with that

I have not driven with it off one time yet... i now when it was raining and i wanted to see how it would react i hit the gas coming out a parking lot and it shot the car straight. i'm fine with that, knowing there is way less of a chance of the car spinning out when wet or something. As far as accelerating and when passing cars, my car never loses power or anything with the vdc on... even when i go from a stop and hit it from 1st it still goes, granted it doesn't burn out, but when tires are this expensive i don't mind it not burning out lol

There is soooo much hwy construction around my area that the roads and hwys constantly have dirt and dust from all the work. Even with it on sometimes just getting on the ramps can be a little bit twitchy. :-/ so its always on for now

I haven't tried yet and I've had my Z since late march. Hard finding a nice stretch of road in nyc.
I might try it at an empty lot. I need new tires anyway

If my memory is correct (I'm old so it may not be entirely accurate), most the members who have experienced motor vehicle crashes had the VDC turned off. In a panic situation strange things happen.....and, the computer doesn't panic.
To each their own. |
