370Z "Off-Limits" at Chicago AutoShow
Seeing how I never miss a chance to check out some new rides, I went to the Chgo AutoShow this afternoon and I was surprised to see that Nissan did not have a 370Z available for consumer interaction (i.e. open car).
The only 370Z on-site was the 40th Anniversary Edition and it was cordoned off. What's frustrating is that Infiniti had all of their cars available, even with the radio and other power options turned on. Why would Nissan give consumers access to all of their Infiniti models, but not the 370Z? I was sooooo looking forward to spending some time behind the wheel. On the bright side, I did get a chance to monkey around with an M3, a Lexus IS-F (very nice) and a 135i. Still holding on the to the dream of getting a cpo M3 or IS-F, but I'll probably end getting a more reasonably priced 370z or 135i. BTW, if u head out to the Chgo Autoshow, you definitely need to stop by the Fisker display. The two spokeswomen in white were total knockouts. Martin |
They probably wanted to stick to their marketing of it being a "unique and exclusive" anniversary model.
Did you take some pictures?!? |

Time for you to go to a dealer and take a test drive. Sitting in a stationary car at the show, meh.

I meant just pics of the whole car show in general.
Reporter shots are ok, but they are all so made. So I was just looking to get an impression of the show |
I have pics of that car in my gallery. They let us get inside it on Wed.

Usually nice cars like this by a non high up manufacturer are blocked off from the public untill later in the show. I am sure if you go again to the autoshow by next wed or thursday, you will beable to sit in the z. I remember last year i went to the auto show like 3 times. First time i could sit in the z and sti, but not evo mr, 2nd time i couldnt sit in the z or evo but still the sti. and then the third time i was able to sit in all of them. The show is about selling cars to customers, so if you walked up to lexus, and proved you were a mulitmillionare, they would allow you to take a first hand look at an lfa, same with lambo n such. So with the z, Im sure if you go and its closed off, but talk to a representative and really show your devotion that you are highly considering this car, he will allow you to sit in it. Another suggestion is to go on a day thats not so busy. You went on a weekend which is HELLA busy, so of course they dont want a shiiiit ton of people trafficing through a limited production vehicle. Go on a weekday during work hours, and you will have much better luck sitting in more cars, plus no long lines! :)

Damn, kinda wish I held off and got this one... looks hot.

Also, there really wasn't too many standout cars that consumer's were excited about. Although my read was that the domestic manufacturers held a better crowd than in prior years, especially Ford and Chevy. |
