+1, pick and choose your battles. It sucks, but I would try to just forget that they did it and buff it out or pay to get it fixed yourself if it really bothers you.

You could park his laptop right in the snow bank. Additionally, trace/outline your middle finger on a sheet of paper and leave it under the lid. That would make me feel better at least.
