Remote key fob question
I started my car this morning and stepped out while it warmed for a bit. When I got back in the car after about 2 minutes, I noticed the dash display said no key. I was wondering, would the car shut off if the key wasn't present for a certain amount of time? What if someone drove off without the key fob present?

This has come up before. The car will operate as normal (except for the display warning about the missing key) until it's turned off (or runs out of gas). At that point it would not restart without the key.

IIRC a pizza delivery guy had his Z stolen when he left the car running during a delivery.

yea nissan should have put in a timer option. You set the timer when you get in to start it if you are warming it up to say 10 min... if the key isnt in the sensor range then it shuts off. Any other time leaving it running is just retarded ... you are asking for someone to steal your car... Warming it up in the drive way is semi ok....
Granted you can get out and lock it anywhere with it still running but still..... |

Haha true. When I was in HS in San Diego there were some pizza delivery guys driving new benzes and other high dollar cars in the nicer parts of town. Apparently La Jolla residents are good tippers!

This would be good if you got into a fight by yourself after a club or something. You were super drunk and beat up all the dudes trying to steal your car. But during the brawl your cell phone and key fob got destroyed, but luckily your car was still running. So in this situation one might appreciate it.

What I always do if I want to keep the car running while going in somewhere real quick or warming it up in the morning is just take the keys with me and then press the lock button on the door. Unless I'm fooling myself here...no one can get in the car and steal it since I am the only one that can unlock it when I get close to the car...
