Monterey Blue vs. Laguna Seca Blue
Hey everyone I've been lurking around here for a little while trying to gain some information on what I hope to be my next car. Honestly right now it's between an e46 M3 or the Z. I tried to search but nothing to really answer it. Now comes my question, I've seen the pics of the monterey blue but I think it's one of those colors you just can't tell the exact shade until you see it in person. So to all of you who either own or have seen this color in person how close is it to BMW laguna seca blue? All the dealers around me just have silver or white. Thanks everyone and sorry for the long post.

its close to it. but not the same exact one.

Not even close. LSB is completely different. I LOVE LSB so I know what it looks like... saw two lsb M3's today and as always it was gorgeous. The 370z blue is like a metallic smurf blue bubblegum blue type blue. Not that close.

Just two quick pics. The Z from this website and a quick google search for the M. Definitely look different but some pictures they look pretty similar. Just wanted to see what people who have seen them both in person thought. I was thinking Monterey was going to be a little more metallic looking. Thanks for the fast replies everyone!

You can make a color look any shade/hue in pictures. It really depends on the lighting and the camera settings. I can tell you it's definitely different than Laguna Seca, and that there is no way for you to know how different unless you see it in person.
Sorry, wish there was a better answer. I hope you are able to find one in your area. |
Passing by the dealer the other day, the MB did remind me of LSB. The thing with LSB though is that it can look completely different depending on the lighting. MB may look a bit a different depending on the light, but not as much as LSB from what I've seen so far.
MB is nice, but LSB has a little more "umph" to it IMO...I can't quite describe it. |
I just noticed that Persimion is an option with the Blue. I know the Frost looks fantastic with the Daytona blue. The Persimion option kind of surprised me with the blue. Persimion/black or charcoal is a very stuning combo - just not sure what it would look like with the blue.. hmmmm

I too agree that the permision would look awesome in the MB. One of my all time favorite color combos is the LSB with cinnamon interior for the M3's. I can't wait to finally be able to see this combo in person of what I hope to be somewhat in the same ballpark.

I loved the San Marion blue of my '08 Roadster and was hoping they would continue the color on the 370 - alas, they didn't.
I have the Monterey blue on my 370 and it's growing on me..it's VERY blue...a bit lighter than the Daytona blue and not quite as "electric". It's been a while since I've seen BMW so I'm not sure how close they are. |
I don't think that LSB and MB are anywhere close to each other. LSB is a non-metallic color. It's pretty bright and pops in your face. MB is metallic (or pearl if you want to call it that) and is more refined and less eye-catching.
With that being said, I'd definitely choose LSB over MB. |
I'm a huge fan of LSB....
I wish I could have ordered it on my Z4 ///M. The LSB pic above is not representative at all of the color, it's not that 'blue' ....this is still too 'blue', but a little closer. http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k7...s/a6636df3.jpg |
Monterey blue is actually Lemans blue.
same paint as this car. the R33 gtr LM cleaned the car on sunday.....(pics) - GT-R Register - Official Nissan Skyline and GTR Owners Club forum http://lh4.ggpht.com/tyndago/RgBec8H...4/s400/adl.jpg http://www.the370z.com/images/japan%...370Z_com_6.jpg |
