offical fuel economy vs you
Hey guys
firstly, i love my car, puts a smile on my everytime. At first i didn't like the sound of it but now i wouldn't change it... But there is one cause of pain... the fuel bill. In australia we have a department that gives cars an official fuel economy rating. For the 370z manual it's 10.5L per 100km. every other car i've driven i've managed to beat the rating in fringe peak hour traffic (15 mins before mega peak hour traffic hits). With the 370z, i cannot beat the official rating? anyone else having trouble beating the fuel rating? side note: dad traded his R36 for a Q5 with 2L petrol turbo. I'd happily put that engine in the 370z... power/torque to fuel economy of that engine is insane. |

The direct injection Audi motor is quite nice, but it is a turbo motor. So you get the econ advantage of a 4 banger, but the power of more displacement. Not a fair comparison. I get about 23-24 mpg (sorry--you need to convert) with the majority highway cruising. Maybe the agency is getting better? Are you using premium petrol? cheaper gas will impact economy.

Fuel economy issues
I have a 370Z touring coupe (6 speed, no sport package) and have accumulated approx. 9000 miles since I first took delivery in June of 2009.
Amazingly my machine gives me up to 30 mpg on a consistent basis, this includes both in town, highway and interstate driving. I have been using Castrol Syntec full synthetic oil and sometimes use mid grade gas with no apparent side effects. Needless to say this car is amazing to drive, a little road noise perhaps but a joy to cruise the mountains of Pennsylvania. R M Hockman DuBois PA |

In my Cobalt (and then G5) the advertised MPG was 24-30 or something?
I averaged 26ish pretty consistently. In my Z I seem to be steady at 21MPG. I do 80% city-esque driving with the rest being highway. If I was incredibly gently and drove it like a Prius I'd imagine I could get to 24-25. That will never happen though. edit: also it's pretty sweet having a 380+ cruise distance.

i'm getting between 18.5-21mpg but i am a little heavy footed when it comes to driving. i'm sure if i took it a little easier,i could crank out more, but that's just not as fun. plus, im left with a lot of stop and go traffic in Dallas which kills the mileage. then there are moments when i need to pass slowpokes...

I've been driving mine for about a month in Los Angeles traffic.
I'm averaging 13.8 mpg with lots of stop-and-go and a bit of a heavy foot. I didn't expect the mileage to be quite so poor...trying to ease up on the throttle a bit lately to see if it makes a big difference... |

I actually measure it in time, i.e. I get two weeks out of a tankful (I don't trust the MPG gauge in my Z). Then again, I live only 9.5 miles (15.30 kilometers) from work, so I don't put too many miles on my beaZt; she's a 2004 Touring Coupe and only has 25,595k on her. Greetings!

On the day that i picked up the car, my salesman gave me a full tank of gas. I went with him to fill it up. It's $50 USD. ($3.10 per gallon) and the tank was already 1/4 full.
I almost fainted. Gas money per month is the same as car payment for me. |

According to my GasCubby app (iPhone) my max MPG is 22.04 with an average of 18.61. This is with 26 fill-ups and 8,143 miles. I average 48.76 miles per day and this puts me at 15 cents per mile.
This info does include my most recent weekend at the track where I averaged 9.85 MPG.
