Nissan has "self-healing" Paint?

Got it in one. Its only the clearcoat that can heal itself. The press statement is misleading as it wont heal anything that breaks through the clear coat like rock chips. Infiniti have it on the G37 over here in the UK too. Yet to see it in action, as over here where its cold, you need to heat it with a heat gun to get it to work. Speaking to my dealer, they said it does work, a brand new 370z came off the transporter with swirls and they managed to "heal" them, but I dont know if this is just BS.

Whats more important to me is how this stuff reacts to polish and machine polishing. I used to machine polish my 350z when it got swirled and it came up lovely, but not sure how this new clear coat will react. Oh and what to do if you need a patch repair on the paint, presumably only Nissan/Infiniti have this clearcoat. Over in the UK we can use people like ChipsAway to do patch repairs on paint, but they wont have the clearcoat.
