Hey guys. Do any of u think that Nissan will release a 40th anniversary edition Z in 2010? I mean it does mark the 40th year for the car and they did release a 35th anniversary edition of the 350z back in 2005. It just added a few changes like mixing the touring model with the track and different rims but the biggest thing was the introduction of the Rev-up engine. Maybe Nissan will do the same thing with the 370 with more power, brembos, different style rims, and 40th anniversary badging and special exterior colors??? That would be cool. What do u guys say??

I doubt it. I dont think they will sell 2 FI sport cars, the Z and the GTR. But if they do decide to offer one with like 340-350bhp, that would be awesome.

Yeah and then the following year all the 370z will have the same upgrades thus diminishing the "40th Anniversary" specialness. Naw Nissan would never do that

I'm curious to see if the g37 gets a new engine, the g37 should get the new engine first then 370z the year after.

What engine, exactly?
IMHO -- I do not see them putting a V8 in these cars. The GTR motor is too limited in production. The VQ's of yore are smaller/less powerful. The realistic options would be direct injection ASAP, then FI, maybe. |

Lol they did that with the 06 models for the 350. It was basically a carry over of the 35th anniversary edition. But the 35th anniv model still holds more value than a standard 06.

WHAT?! Direct Injection FTMFW!!! It's the only thing that saved those Eco-tech motors! My turbo Solstice gets 41MPG and still is pretty quick!

As mentioned already/elsewhere, they introduce upgrades that then become standard on the subsequent model (The 35th Anniv. had the rev-up motor).
I just don't think they can do much more with the current VQ block. Don't get me wrong, it's a hell of a thing, but what could they really do next? V8? -- I don't think so. Bore the 3.7? -- To what, 3.9 or more ... How much can this really yield? Direct Injection? -- Usually an *easy* way to add HP, increase economy. Forced Induction? -- Cost prohibitive (ie - the next 300zx in the making) Stroke the 3.7/3.9+? -- a) I thought that's how they already got the extra .2l we're at now; b) We're spinning 7.5k rpm already; c) This aint a damn Honda, I want/like torque. |

Well who knows. I mean Nissan did add and extra 13hp to the VQ35DE. Yeah the tq suffered but still people bought them. I mean if they can add an extra 10-20hp by adding direct injection or any other mild upgrades that would be pretty cool. But u are right...i dont see them adding a VK V8 or go FI with the Z. And I dont think we will see any factory bore/stroked VQ's until the next Z. |

I'm 100% sure u won't see a turbo. Direct injection is to much reversion for a one year edition. No boring.... how u gonna have a 3.9 litre 370z? Exhaust tune? Slim chance but possible What I see is not much at all. Maybe an ecu tune n possibly some special short throw smooth shifter...possibly? I think it won't be as special as the 350 with the extra 13hp. ![]() |
