I agree wholeheartedly. The competition/overlap that would happen between the GTR and the Z would not be good for either car. If Carlos knows his history, he won’t out-price the Z and kill it ….. again. I see direct injection coming, but have no idea when. Of the USDM Nissan/Infinity line-up, do any current motors have D.I. now? What about the global offerings? It just seems like there isn’t much emphasis on it right now even though it’s a way to squeeze out power and efficiency. With all that they’ve done to the motor, chassis, suspension, etc. to go from the 350Z to the 370Z, all I think we’ll see are varied offerings of limited interior/exterior trims, mild refreshing of random/inconsequential things, special badging/colors/configurations until this car exhausts it’s lifecycle. True to their past, I think they’ll run this car more or less identical to the way it is right now for the next 3 yrs and then “update” the motor with D.I. for it’s 4th production year and refine the aesthetics then. I think the next Z will be totally re-designed from the ground up. Have some of the GTR bits/tech trickle down, consolidate the chassis platforms across even more models and toss in the newest N.A. bent 6 that has D.I. Only time will tell ….. |

Lol they did that with the 06 models for the 350. It was basically a carry over of the 35th anniversary edition. But the 35th anniv model still holds more value than a standard 06.

Well who knows. I mean Nissan did add and extra 13hp to the VQ35DE. Yeah the tq suffered but still people bought them. I mean if they can add an extra 10-20hp by adding direct injection or any other mild upgrades that would be pretty cool. But u are right...i dont see them adding a VK V8 or go FI with the Z. And I dont think we will see any factory bore/stroked VQ's until the next Z. |

Motoring J Style: Building the Nissan GTR engine - Inside the clean room. I think direct injection is the next step with the VQ, will yield more economy and power. |

I heard the G37 will be the G38 next year with a 3.8 similar to the GT-R with a different head I'm assuming because it won't have the turbos........ but that was from a salesman/avid G35 driver so who knows.... The Z typically is a year behind the G so if the 3.8 shows up in '10 we may see a 380Z in '11

Yeah, not to mention that they're not going to make all those 3.7L blocks just for 3 years of models. The 3.5 was around for a LONG time. The 3.7L is going to be around for AT LEAST 7 years. They'll make improvements to the heads, cams, timing, intake, exhaust, etc but the block will stay the same (unless a big flaw is found that needs to be corrected like GM did with the LS1). The 3.8L will be sold exclusively to the premium cars only for a while and again, those will just keep getting tweaked by Nissan, rather than boared out.

I would love to see them work out a DI version of it, but I think fuel economy would be a bigger selling point on that upgrade than the power boost. The VQ35XX/VQ37XX goes into a lot of vehicles besides the 370z and Nissan is going to get a much more value out of +3MPG than they are with +30HP. The bonus with DI is that you can get both. |

I'm 100% sure u won't see a turbo. Direct injection is to much reversion for a one year edition. No boring.... how u gonna have a 3.9 litre 370z? Exhaust tune? Slim chance but possible What I see is not much at all. Maybe an ecu tune n possibly some special short throw smooth shifter...possibly? I think it won't be as special as the 350 with the extra 13hp. |

40th Anniversary Z is Here
My dealership has one, the first in the area. Only 1000 are being made. It is, basically, a 370 Z Touring Coupe with Sport Package along with custom colors and detailing. The package includes a special cover, medalions, red leather seats, and it's own unique silver-gray color.
In other words, the car is cosmetically special-edition, not mechanically. Any of you in the Tysons Corner VA area are welcome to come by and see the car. It is really sharp looking. Mark Goldberg Rosenthal Nissan 703-255-5575 |

My husband's dealership just got one yesterday. Gorgeous paint and wheel color. I would love to have those wheels on my PG Z.
