Hello all. I've been searching through the foum here pretty heavily lately. Great site, lots of good info. I'm in the market for a New Car by the end of March. I'm a car enthusiast/geek (if you understand, or you don't :driving:) and after looking at a lot of factors; I decided the 370Z would be the perfect car for me.

Everyone here knows all the good things about your cars; and I wasn't surprise to read about the positive experiences posted in this forum. But what I found a little surprising; and maybe a little concerning is the number of issues... they seem to range from small to larger in severity.

Anyways, my urge to get the Z has not really faulterd because of reading the issues some of you are experiencing; but it does make me question the long term durability of the car.

Do you current owners feel like the problems noted are in the range for a new car? My only new car was a 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan and had no issues, (Not comparing the cars of course! lol just that they were new). Maybe if anything; the issues that aren't known Z quirks are the result of the first year of a model overhaul... not sure.

What do you all think?

Seems like the biggest issue i've seen is the springs on the hatch problem because its happened to alot of people, the oil heats up under aggressive driving, but thats not an issue for daily driven use. Then there's that strange ECU issue that a few guys on here experienced when they were just driving then all of a sudden couldnt rev their engine above a few thousand rpms, which was remedied by placing the car in reverse then back into first, but so far, I havent seen or experienced any catastrophic problems with the Z34.

no matter what car you get, and look at, if you were to ask drivers what they thought, there will always be problems/quirks, no car is perfect. but personally i wouldnt question the 'durability' about this car, specially with the history of the Z.

Realize this forum contains the most enthusiastic, critical bunch of 370Z owners on the planet. The fact that you can count the number of true issues on one hand is a testament to the overall sound engineering of the car.

The problems mostly are minor. My car's perfect, as are so many others' who have no reason to post here "gripewise.". The 2010 is a second year model and many of the first year issues are either eliminated or fixes have been worked out for them at the dealerships. Big picture to me is its a great car, for a fair price, with the pedigree of a solid, established Japanese company known for good cars. I'm very comfortable with my purchase and confident in my car. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I think the Z is solidly built. It has its quirks, but like any other car, if you maintain it properly it will serve you well.

I have a 350 and will be buying a 370. Should tell you something about the Z as well.

Additionally if there is anything wrong, Nissan will either fix it or you have a good excuse to mod your car with better parts..

outside of a few engineering deficiencies (oil heating, fuel starvation) a lot of the problems you will read on this board are owner induced or maint schedule related... i don't recall reading about too many failures relating to lack of durability... car holds up well in many conditions, incl at the track

he's prob right... but i think the trend is good so far... and while I don't have the data to prove it, i think we can extrapolate from the good 1st year result and say this car should hold up pretty well... and if it doesn't the price is pretty damned low considering what you get so depreciation risk is minimal

"Toyota". That been said, check out the last April Auto Issue of CR; you'll find the Z to be rated as "Much Better Than Average", 'cause the engine, AT, cooling system, electrical system, brakes, chassis, etc., are great. The MTs are a bit clunky, yet reliable. Just a few nuisances, that's all.
