DS mode on the 7at ?

does the 7at transmission have a ds mode (drive sport mode) like the infinits. as far as i know i thought it doesn't but then again i do not own a 370z but a g37. im curious about it and if not what is this guy talking about ? http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-r...toring-tv.html

What is ds mode? An automatic should have full auto mode and manual mode.

I believe he's referring to the mode in which some automatic transmission cars will shift at higher rpms to give the auto a "sportier" feel.

I belive the G and the Camaro both have this feature. The Z does not.

The 370z will learn the drivers style Of driving and it can hold the gear longer and shift at a higher rpm in full auto mode. So the g37 has a button to turn the ds mode on?

on my g37coupe thers 3 setting.. full auto, ds (drive sport mode) and manual. you just have to switch the lever to the left and it goes into ds mode pull the lever up or down or pull either paddle then goes into manual .i thought maybe the 370 might have that to i guess not

The Z has two modes, D & M.
D: Will shift how you are driving, if you are slowing accelerating it will do fuel conservation, etc. If you floor it, it will hold to a higher RPM.
M: Full manual

On the 7ATs I've driven (assume its the same in the US as the UK), we have two modes as above, but also in full auto, you can use the paddles to override and shift up and down, but if then the car thinks you need to shift up/down later it will automatically take over again. In manual mode it leaves the shifting to you even if you batter it off the rev limiter or go so low you stall :)

I think this was the same as the G37S I drove too, although I didnt go through any real testing with both cars, just what I saw test driving them. Still only 2 modes, stick one way and it was in D and there it was M (with +/- going foward and backwards with the stick)

If you do that with the Z, it will stay in whatever gear it is until fuel cutoff from redline, or automatically down shift you to a lower gear, if you get the engine down around idle (won't kill the engine) - but then when you accellerate, it will stay in whatever gear you left in in.

It will not let you stall the engine.

I go into "drive sport mode" by depressing my accelerator farther down on my 350Z. It works like magic!

My 2008 G35 sport sedan (5-speed automatic) has the DS (Drive Sport) mode also. If you put the car in this mode it's shift points are more aggressive. The car shifts on it's own but shifts faster as opposed to how it shifts in regular auto mode. On all 2007 and up G35 sedans or G37 coupes or sedans (automatics with the sport package) you have the option of driving the car 4 ways: regular auto mode, DS (Drive Sport mode), autostick, or paddle shifters.

What's the purpose of DS when you have paddles?

actually it doesn't shift faster !!! it just keeps your revs up for spirited driving and you don't need sport package for ds it comes standard
